清清爽爽迎立夏

5月5日迎來立夏節氣,氣溫走高,雨水增多。進入夏季人體大量排汗,容易造成陽氣不足,所以要養足陽氣。千萬不要因為怕熱怕出汗,就整天悶在空調房裡,要堅持適量運動,促進身體機能循環,既通達陽氣,又促進濕氣排出。但運動量不宜過大,以輕微出汗為好,運動過後記得喝點溫水補充體液。

在飲食中適當吃些酸味食物,如:檸檬、鳳梨等,既能斂汗祛濕,又能健胃消食。天氣炎熱容易導致心火旺盛,如果此時再吃燥熱或油膩的食物,就會出現內熱症狀,臉上愛長痘痘,或者出現口腔潰瘍、便秘等現象。因此,食物要清淡、易消化、富含維生素和礦物質,適當多吃一些綠色蔬菜和豆類。今天給大家推薦一道清新爽口的時蔬菜譜——萵筍炒豌豆。這兩種食材都是在初夏開始大量上市,既應時又健康。

材料:豌豆300克,萵筍200克,彩椒半個,鹽、醬油、食用油、蔥、薑適量。
作法:
1、萵筍去皮切絲,彩椒切絲。
2、鍋中倒少許油,放入豌豆略煸炒,倒入半碗清水,待豌豆煮熟後盛出。
3、炒鍋倒油,放入薑末、蔥末爆香,倒入萵筍絲、彩椒絲,翻炒至熟。
4、倒入熟豌豆,放少許醬油、鹽,再依個人口味滴幾滴醋,翻炒片刻,出鍋盛盤。

May 5, 2018 is the solar term Lixia (Start of Summer). During this time, temperatures tend to be higher with relatively more rain. As the weather transit from Spring into Summer, our body perspires more and this may lead to deficiency in yang energy, so it is imperative for us to nourish the yang energy. Do not be afraid of the hot weather or perspiration and hide in an air-conditioned room. Instead, insist on moderate exercise to promote circulation and to allow the yang energy to flow while stimulating discharge of dampness from our body. However, strenuous exercise is not encouraged during this time. Rather, we should exercise in moderation so that we break out in light sweat. Remember to replenish our body fluids after exercising by drinking more warm water.

During this time, we can include some sour food in our diet, for instance, lemons and pineapples. These fruits stimulate perspiration, dispel dampness from our body, invigorate our stomach and aid digestion. As the hot weather causes us to be easily irritated, we may develop internal heat symptoms if we over-indulge in heaty and fried food. These internal heat may manifest in the form of pimples break out, mouth ulcers and constipation. Therefore we should maintain a light diet that is rich in vitamins and minerals and eat more easily digestible food. For instance, green leafy vegetables and beans. Today I would like to recommend a refreshing vegetable dish—

Stir fried lettuce with peas. These two ingredients are readily available in the market during summer. It is a seasonal and healthy dish.

Ingredients: 300 grams of peas, 200 grams of lettuce, half a capsicum, some salt, light soy sauce, cooking oil, shallots and moderate amount of ginger.

Preparation method:
1) Remove skin of capsicum and cut both lettuce and capsicum into thin slices.
2) Add some cooking oil to stir-fry the peas lightly. Add in half a bowl of water. Remove the peas once they are cooked.
3) Stir-fry some ginger until they give out fragrance. Add in lettuce and capsicum slices to fry.
4) Pour in the cooked peas from number 2 and fry with light soy sauce, salt and vinegar. These seasonings can be moderated according to personal taste. The dish is now ready to be served.

光吃水果不吃飯,會變美嗎?

愛美是女人的天性,許多姑娘們為了追求高顏值,不惜用上各種瘦身方法,甚至吃藥減肥。可知道如果方法不當,可能會造成反效果又傷害健康?!

先前,我遇過一個年輕的中國姑娘,長得挺漂亮,身材也不錯,就是臉上長滿疙瘩,像小小的丘陵一樣凹凸不平整。她說:「我的臉因為減肥弄成這樣,常常長膿包,又癢又醜,我非常不自信,甚至都不敢白天出門、更別談找男朋友了。」

我問她:「怎麼搞的?」
才瞭解,她為了好身材拼命減肥——每天只吃水果不吃飯。可慢慢地,她臉上長出了很多膿包,她不知道因為每天只吃水果,結果造成身體中糖分攝取過多,營養失衡,所以長出來的膿包。本來是為了美,反而為美所誤!

所以,只吃水果不吃飯,身體容易因為失衡而產生疾病。因為中國人的祖宗都是吃飯長大的,到了你這兒只吃水果,你的身體自然就不能適應。

It is a woman’s nature to look beautiful. Many young ladies will try all methods to lose weight, even going as far as taking slimming pills. But do you know if the method is improper, it can cause adverse effects and harm health?!

Some time ago, I met a young lady from China. She is very beautiful and has good figure, but her face is full of pimples, causing the complexion to be uneven. She told me, “My face became this way after I went on a diet. These pimples are filled with pus, making the skin itchy and ugly. I’ve lost all my self-confidence. I don’t even have the courage to leave the house in the daytime, let alone try to find a boyfriend.”

I asked her, “What happened?”
Apparently, she had embarked on a very aggressive weight loss program – living on fruits every day, abstaining from rice completely. Over time, pus-filled pimples started to develop on her face. She did not know that her diet had caused excessive sugar intake in her body and nutrition imbalance. What an irony!

Therefore, only eating fruits as staple will lead to the development of many diseases. Our ancestors survived on rice for many generations; what makes you think that your body can adapt to purely eating fruits?

So how can we lose weight by not replying on drugs, liposuction or dieting?
I have some ideas to share with all of you. I welcome all of you to join me this Saturday to discuss the best way to cope with life.

佛國寺

佛國寺位於韓國慶尚北道吐含山山腰,與相距4公里的石窟庵,是新羅時期景德王宰相金大城分別為紀念自己前世、今生的父母所建,於西元774年完工,被譽為新羅佛教藝術的經典。
.
歷史上,佛國寺幾經戰亂焚毀,又重新修復,我們今日所見到的佛國寺,是西元1969-1973年,由韓國總統朴正熙所下令重修而成。由於佛國寺文物展現出新羅時期佛教文化,1995年佛國寺被聯合國教科文組織列為世界文化遺產;而多寶塔、釋迦塔、蓮華橋七寶橋、青雲橋白雲橋、金銅毗盧舍那佛坐像、金銅阿彌陀如來坐像及三層時塔內發現遺物,也被韓國政府列為韓國國寶。
.
現今保留佛國寺的建築,主要是以花崗岩建造,建築方法與構圖都是以新羅時期風格為主,呈現出平衡且大氣的感覺。寺中主要分成三個區域,分別是供奉釋迦牟尼的大雄殿、供奉阿彌陀佛的極樂殿及供奉毗盧舍那佛的毗盧殿,雖然寺中並不燒香,然而前往禮佛的信眾仍然絡繹不絕。

佛國寺環境優美,周邊種植大量的櫻花樹與楓樹。因此每年春天,粉白色的櫻花開滿樹頭,美不勝收,吸引眾多人潮前往賞櫻;到了秋天,楓葉彷彿染紅了寺院一般,再配上清幽的環境及湛藍的天空,讓人感到一股舒暢之情,想要洗滌塵世的繁雜思緒,不妨前往佛國寺一遊。

【五月】人生有成就,只因有夢想。

人生需要有夢想,有夢想就有動力。無論你多麼懦弱、處境有多困難,會讓你真正感到痛苦的是——你連夢想都沒有,那你的人生就真正失敗了。我曾經看過一個真實的故事。

美國有一個13歲的小姑娘夢想去歐洲旅遊,但她父母親不是很有錢。老師說:「你自己可以設法存錢啊!」
.
於是,這個小姑娘就去推銷「娃娃餅乾」。一開始她很害怕,畏畏縮縮的。敲別人家門,對方也沒好口氣:「嘿!你的餅乾乾淨嗎?我不買!」哎喲,門一關上,這個女孩就坐在地上哭。
.
第二天拿著餅乾去找老師,老師就安慰她說:「孩子啊,那些都是主派來的考驗你的,你要有信心堅持下去。」
.
小孩子嘛說什麼就信什麼, 她就再次充滿希望地去敲門:「我想推銷我的餅乾,因為我有個夢想請您幫我實現它,八毛錢一盒。」 她把她的夢想告訴別人。有人就說:「我的孩子怎不像你這樣勇敢呢?你叫什麼名字,我要讓我的孩子跟你交朋友、跟你學習。」

後來好多人出於各種善良的想法去買她的餅乾,幫她實現夢想。一年之後,她就把所有的費用湊齊了。十四歲就成功地實現了她的夢想!這個夢想很多成年人都做不到,而一個孩子做到了!現在這個孩子已經長大了,在一個很大的投資公司當經理,還有人請她到世界各地講演,分享她的故事。

她能有所成就,是來自於心中所持有的夢想。你的夢想其實有時能戰勝所有的困難,能夠戰勝一切障礙,能戰勝一切人生的阻力,這種能量是來自於你內心最最強大的信心,由信心產生無限的動力!

大河中有一對魚兄弟,一條名字叫想太多,一條名叫想太少,牠倆是情同手足的兄弟,另外還有一條魚叫_想剛好。魚兄弟倆想從森林大河游到人類居住的環境裡遊玩,想剛好覺得不妥,就對兄弟倆說:『這裡環境很危險,漁夫會用魚網捕捉我們,大家還是回森林去吧!』
.
然而,想太多和想太少這一對兄弟,因為懈怠猶豫,又對食物貪執,遲遲不肯動身。『 好吧!明天就走 。』但明天到來時,他們又說隔天,就這樣一天拖一天,日子過去了三個月,最後他們還是不肯走。
.
一天,想太多和想太少為了吃魚餌,鑽進魚網內竟出不來了,想剛好看見,便咬破網線,救出兩兄弟。
.
兄弟倆萬分感激想剛好,但他倆懶散怠惰、只顧享樂的習性並不曾悔改。後來幾經轉世,想太多和想太少,成為同門師兄弟的出家人,他們懈怠懶惰的習性仍然深重。
.
有一次,他們要來參見佛陀。便把旅途中的糧食都準備好,卻依然只說著:『明天再走吧!明天再走吧!』一個月時光過去了。好不容易他們才真正出發了,來見佛陀時已經遲到許久了。
.
佛陀見到兩人時,便斥責他們不該蹉跎時光,無常緊追在後,一個人究竟有多少生命可以浪費?佛陀為他們說法。他們深切懺悔,並將過去陋習斬斷殆盡,順利脫離了輪迴苦海,悟道得證。
.
原來,當初咬破漁網拯救兄弟倆的那條魚(想剛好),正是釋迦牟尼佛的前身。而森林代表彼岸,魚網就代表世俗的享樂陷阱。
.
這故事告訴我們,怠惰和偷懶的習性,是障礙前進的最大阻力。人們總說著我今天忙,我明天再開始修行,或今天累了讓我休息一下…
.
要知道,無常是緊隨左右,一日不精進就是一日的損失,世俗享樂就像漁網,眾生被困在其中還不自知呢!慎哉!

Once upon a time, there was a pair of fishes who were brothers and lived in the river. One of them was called Think Too Much, and the other was called Think Too Little. There was another fish called Think Just Right who lived in the same river. One day, the brothers decided to swim from the river in the jungle to the place where the humans lived. Think Just Right had a bad feeling about the place and warned the brothers: “This is a dangerous place. The fishermen will try to capture us with their baits and nets. Let us return to the jungle!”

Think Too Much and Think Too Little however, hesitated. They were complacent and were greedy for the abundant food found there. “Ok! We shall go back tomorrow.” But when tomorrow arrived, they would procrastinate the return by another day. Before they knew it, three months had passed.

One day, the brothers got lured into a fisherman’s net by the baits. They panicked when they realized that they were trapped. Fortunately, Think Just Right saw what happened and managed to bite through the nets to release them.

The brothers were grateful to Think Just Right for the rescue but they did not change their ways. They were still as complacent, lazy, and as enamored of the worldly pleasures as before. A few lifetimes passed. Eventually, Think Too Much and Think Too Little reincarnated to be dharma brothers in the same monastery. Even as monks, they were still as complacent and lazy.

One day, the dharma brothers decided to make a trip to pay their respects to Buddha. They finished their preparations and were ready to start the trip, but they kept telling themselves “Let’s begin the journey tomorrow!” One month passed before they finally began on their journey.

The moment Buddha saw them, he reprimanded them for the procrastination and for wasting their time. Knowing that life is unpredictable, how can you continue to waste the days of your lives? As they listened to Buddha, the dharma brothers repented deeply and finally resolved to change the bad ways of their past. At that moment, they attained enlightenment and were liberated from the sufferings of reincarnation.

Remember the fish Think Just Right who rescued the brothers from the net? That was Buddha in his previous life. The jungle is akin to the shores of liberation while the fishing net represents the traps of the pleasures in the secular world.

Moral of the story: complacency and laziness are the biggest obstacles to our growth. We always have plenty of excuses to justify our laziness – we would claim to be too busy today, promise to practice the next day, or simply claim to be too tired.

We ought to remember that life is unpredictable. A day spent without diligent practice is a day lost. Secular pleasures are like the fishing net that traps all sentient beings! This is something we need to be aware of, and be cautious about!

Today is Labor Day. Let it be a day of action for us!
In the Six Perfections, only diligence can overcome complacency, overcome the years, we have been held back by our bad habit of complacency.
