Health Regimen – [Say ‘No’ to these 3 food choices for a month, Jul 18 – Aug 18]

To avoid the 3 ‘High’s, say ‘No’ to these 3;
「Do not consume milk, meat and sugar」

(3 ‘High’s refer to High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure and High Blood Sugar)
Can you recall, sometime ago, I gave some tips on how to be healthy? Have you incorporated them into your lifestyle?

It may be difficult to resist delicious food as it seems that we are not fair to ourselves. However, we must be mindful to treat our body well as health is priceless and of utmost importance. With good health, life is beautiful.

From today on, let us try to work on《Say ‘No’ to these 3 food choices for a month》! Let’s shout aloud our Health Motto: ‘No’ to milk, meat and sugar! Choose health and longevity!

Here are some of my health advice:
1. The hidden secret of milk; milk is meant for calves. If we consume too much milk, this is likely to be harmful to us.

2. Consuming less meat is healthy and environmentally friendly. Consuming meat product = taking poison?

3. My recommendations for good health; outside of mealtime, stay away from sugar.

My recommendations for good health… ? ? ?

1. Reduce intake of sugar. Let us do our best to live by this principle.
“Outside of mealtimes, stay away from sweets or any food or drinks that contain sugar.”
Hunger actually stimulates our brains which is why we should never engorge ourselves. When it comes to maintaining good health, the ancients were very wise and believed that one who is keen on self-cultivation should refrain from eating after noon time to maintain a healthy and clear mind.

2. Besides watching our diets, we can also practice Energy Bagua to maintain good health and to reduce our weight.
Energy Bagua can rapidly break down the sugars in our body. This method of practice is not linked to any religion, is stress-free and delivers obvious results with only an hour per day. Many people have, over the course of a hundred hours of practice, attained good health, regained their waistlines and even achieved longevity.

Hence, other than reducing our intake of sugar, we should also increase the amount of exercise and training to balance the excess sugars in our body and regain good health and beauty.

As a Chinese idiom goes, “Diseases enter from the mouth”.
We are what we eat. So how and what should we eat?
Let us begin with small changes starting from today.

A health catastrophe that is slowly creeping into our lives

WHO (The World Health Organization) published the followings on March 4, 2015:
Adults and children should reduce their daily free sugar intake to less than 10% of their total energy intake. A further reduction to below 5% or roughly 25 grams (6 teaspoons) will bring even more health benefits.

According to statistical reports, diabetes cause more than 1.5 million deaths every year. High blood sugar level is known to increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, which cause another 2.2 million deaths per year. This means that the total number of deaths in a year that is related to high blood sugar level is 3.7 million. Among these, 43% of the deaths occur before the age of 70.

In the year 2014, 39% of the adult population worldwide (above 18 years of age) are obese. From 1980 to 2014, the worldwide prevalence of obesity doubled, with the rate for men at 11% and the rate for women at 15%. More than 500 million adults were classified in the obese category. (For specifics of the statistics above, please refer to WHO homepage)

Mother’s Day,what is the best gift for our mother?

There was a practitioner who asked me in FB for gift ideas for mothers on Mother’s Day.

Some years back, there was a practitioner in Canada who chanted 2 hours every evening at Canada Bodhi Meditation centre. He appeared to be in good health and would often come in office suits before changing to casual wear for his daily chanting.

I saw him at the centre once and asked: “what is your reason for chanting?”

He replied: “I came from a single parent family. My mother exhausted all means to send me abroad for studies and work but she remained in Mainland China herself. Though my mother is being taken care of by my younger brother’s family, her health is not good. I am very worried and wished to accompany and take care of her at home but she is adamant and refused to let me go back. She reassured me that my younger brother is by her side and his wife can take care of her. She wanted me to concentrate on my career so that I can have great career accomplishment. I wanted to fetch her over to Canada, find the best doctor for her but she always gave the excuse that her health is not very good and do not wish to travel.”

The practitioner was troubled over this for a long time. On one occasion, he came across my teaching on the internet “Chanting for our loved ones” and knew that we can chant for our loved ones to gain Buddha’s blessings. Desperate and out of ideas, he decided to give it a try.
He went to the nearest Bodhi meditation centre after work and started chanting for his mother on a daily basis. He would tell Buddha: My mother brought me up painstakingly but I am not by her side and cannot take care of her now. I sincerely pray and hope that Buddha can bless her with good health.

His mother had always been weak, her voice can even be heard quivering over the telephone whenever they chatted. However, after just one month of chanting for his mother, the practitioner discovered that his mother’s voice had grown louder and clearer. Eventually, his mother told him she is able to run errands on her own outside without any help. Upon hearing this, the practitioner was very happy and became more focused in his daily chanting: he prayed for Buddha’s help in taking care of his mother.

I was very happy after hearing his story and encouraged him: “The power of chanting is incredible. Do persist!”

When I saw him one year later, he was with an old lady. Though the old lady has some white hair, she appeared energetic and physically strong. He introduced: “Master, this is my mother. Her health is in excellent state and she is staying with me in Canada now. Currently, she is a regular at Bodhi Meditation centre, doing chanting and practicing Energy Bagua!” The old lady upon hearing her son’s words, realized that I am his master, held my hand and said with a strong dialect slang: “Master, your techniques are excellent, I started to grow new hair and some white hairs even turned black! Look! She pointed at some hair and even squat and stood up a few times to show me her mobility. Clearly, she is very healthy and physically mobile now.

I asked the practitioner’s mother: “How old are you?”

She smilingly replied:”I am turning 70! But my limbs are as mobile as when I was 50 years old!”

I looked at the happy smiles on both their faces and lamented on the miraculous giving of Buddha and Bodhisattvas. In the process of giving, Buddha and Bodhisattvas did not lose a single thing. All they required from us is our sincerity!

So, what do you think is the best gift for our mothers?

When you are unable to take care of your mother yourself, pray to Buddha sincerely and seek for their blessings for your mothers!
