科學家研究發現,人類的大腦擁有極高的智慧,但實際上最多只使用了百分之十,還有百分之九十沒有開發。因此,我們都是菁英,都擁有獨特的才能,絕對有能力可以釋放更大的能量。

2006年7月,美國科學家Dr. Richard Davidson、Dr. Antoine Lutz與Dr. Al Shapere作了一個試驗。由兩組試驗組進行實驗,一組由8位具有15到40年「禪修」經驗的喇嘛進行試驗;另一組人員是由10位「學生」所組成,此學生們之前沒有任何禪修的經驗,只有在試驗前一週接受短暫的冥想訓練。

試驗結果:
「試驗喇嘛組」和「對照學生組」,兩組間伽瑪腦波頻率強度是否有不同,結果試驗喇嘛組平均伽瑪腦波頻率強度,是對照學生組平均約達8倍的強度!
而經過多年禪修,表現最好的喇嘛,其伽瑪腦波頻率強度,是對照組學生伽瑪腦波頻率的13倍!

此事實證實禪修的效果,並非單純是心情上的放鬆,而是禪修對大腦腦波之活動頻率有直接的影響,透過持續不斷的「禪修」,進行身心靈的整合,彙聚正面能量。當身體暢通了,心靈也通了,腦袋當然也就通了。自然能孕育出全盤的理解力,與宏觀的智慧。

The Secret Methodology of Brain Development
.
Scientific research has shown that the human brain possesses extremely high intelligence, of which most people only utilize 10%. The remaining 90% has been left undeveloped. In other words, every one of us is a genius with unique talents and possesses the ability to unleash greater energy.
.
In July 2006, American scientists Dr. Richard Davidson, Dr. Antoine Lutz and Dr. Al Shapere conducted an experiment with two groups of people. One group comprised of 8 Tibetan high priests (known as Lamas) with 15 to 40 years of meditation experience. The second group comprised of 10 students who have not had any experience with meditation, but who had been trained on the basics of contemplation one week before the experiment.

Results of the experiment:
The experiment’s objective was to find out the difference in the strength of the brain gamma waves between the “lama group” and the control “student group”. Results showed that the lama group, on average, had gamma waves frequencies that were 8 times stronger than that of the control student group! The lama who had meditated for the longest period of time had the best performance – his gamma waves frequency were 13 times stronger than that of the control student group!

The results affirmed that the effects of meditation extend beyond the relaxation of the mind. In fact, meditation is known to have direct impact on the activity of our neural brain waves. Continuous meditation helps in the integration of the mind and body, and helps to accumulate positive energy. When the body is free of blockages, the mind and the brain are unblocked as well. This will naturally give rise to a more comprehensive faculty of understanding, and a more complete wisdom.

What is happiness?
.
This man’s smile is filled with happiness.
.
He is Wen Jin Chuan and he is an excavator driver. He is the sole support of his family with his monthly salary of $3000. His biggest worry as he grew older was the state of his health.
.
Chuan:
At that time, I had difficulties squatting, and I also had trouble climbing steps. I even fell down a couple of times. I was only fifty years old then and I feared how it would be when I am sixty? Would I become totally immobile and confined to the bed?
.
For the past five years, Chuan has tried all possible ways for his legs to get better, but the situation only got worse. He knew very well that if this continued, eventually, he would lose his job and his family would lose their only source of income. That was when he came across Energy Bagua.
.
Chuan:
About six months ago, my brother-in-law invited me to the meditation center. He drove me to the Cheras Meditation Center to take a look. That was the first time I came across Energy Bagua. I remember that was a Sunday morning. I sat on the swing and watched the people walking around a tree. They would change their hands every eight rounds. I wondered what benefit that would bring. Three days later, I asked one of the lady who was there: Will this help me? Walking round and round the tree? To which the lady replied “Yes of course. Do you want to try?”
.
Ning Hang:
The very next day he started the Energy Bagua practice with us. His legs hurt a lot in the beginning. I told him that he has to persevere so as to reap the benefits. About a month after he started practicing with us, he told me that he has not taken his usual injection that help to control the pain in his legs. Normally he had to take the injection every month. I encouraged him to continue with the practice. It has been five months since then and he has not had to take a single injection. Last month he shared with me that he was able to carry a pail of water in each hand and climb the stairs from the first to the fifth floor. His legs did not hurt at all.
.
Chuan:
About three months after I started practicing, I went for my regular health check up. When I stepped onto the weighing machine, I could not believe my eyes. My weight has gone from 105kg down to 91kg! I was so happy. Not only have I benefited from a full recovery of my legs, I have also benefited by losing so much weight!
.
Grateful for the benefits that he has reaped within such a short period of time, Chuan decided to give back to the Bagua community.
.
Ning Hang:
Due to the rain these past few days, the ground at where we practice has become very muddy. Chuan woke up really early in the morning and brought sand over to lay the ground for us. All our Bagua mates were really grateful to Chuan as without him, it would have been difficult to practice Bagua.
.
Once, his sister came to visit with her family.
Chuan:
I feel so happy and lucky. My change has brought about happiness in my family. We chat and laugh together a lot now. Previously I could not move and could only lie in bed. Not only was my income reduced, my family had to help me with the simplest of things. My temper was bad then and we quarreled a lot. Now, I am able to help them with chores whenever they are not free.
.
Chuan also recounted the time that his daughter paid him a surprise visit. She even brought a small gift for him. It was a pair of reading glasses which was exactly what he needed. With his new pair of glasses, Chuan can now read all the words in the newspapers clearly.

What is happiness? To me, this is happiness.

在西方神話中有一種神鳥叫「鳳凰」,雄為鳳、雌為凰,又被稱為火鳥、或不死鳥。傳說天方國的鳳凰,每500年就會集香木自焚為灰燼,再從灰燼中浴火重生。而鳳凰每一次的重生,就能獲得比以往更強大的生命力,如此周而復始,直至「鳳凰涅槃」,獲得永生。

而我們經過禪修之後,觀察能力、視覺能力、以至於各種能力,從寬度、深度、廣度。在境界上也會有很大差別,我們從一個凡人的基礎上,修到了視覺能力,和精神境界都超越過去,甚至超越了凡人,自然我們的能量就會比過去增強;而我們的思維方式、智慧也將比過去強上很多。

當深入修行到一個程度的時候,我們也有機會,生出許多超越原本能力的超能力,可以跨越時間、空間去看我們自己、看這個世界,去順應於這個世界、甚至是利用這個世界,讓自己飛升起來,這叫什麼呢?——「善用萬物而入鳳凰涅槃」,通俗地講就是「烏鴉變鳳凰」,提升我們的肉體與精神境界。

Make the best of everything to elevate oneself.

In Western mythology there is a kind of sacred bird called “phoenix” which is also known as firebird or long-lived bird. According to legend, the phoenix cyclically regenerates or born again after every 500 years through gathering incense wood and burning itself to ashes. With every rebirth, the phoenix gains stronger life force and this keeps repeating until it eventually attains Nirvana and gains an eternal life.

Through meditation, our observation and visual skills improve. Thus we have better ability and able to view broader and deeper. Our spiritual realm also transcend to a level higher than that of a normal human being. So naturally our energy will be stronger than in the past and so will be our thinking ability and wisdom.

When our practice has reached a certain depth, we will find ourselves gaining new ability beyond our original ability. We may even have the ability to look at the world and ourselves beyond time and space. We may be able to adapt to the world by using what the world has to offer. We refer to this as – “making the best of everything to attain phoenix’s state of Nirvana” or simply, “transforming a crow into a phoenix” to explain the elevation of our physical and mental state of mind.

In this week’s global group practice, let us discuss how we can elevate our spiritual mind through meditation. I welcome all to share your thoughts, experiences and your spiritual transformations in the path of your self-cultivation!

在外國,有一個很有名的作家叫_海倫•凱勒(Helen Keller),她是一位享譽全世界的傳奇聾盲女子,正常人大概無法想像,她從小就得活在黑暗、寂靜和寂寞中,會是怎樣的絕望和痛苦。她是如何跨越天生殘疾,成就非凡呢?

在每天的生活中,她必須靠觸摸別人的臉或衣服來識別對方,聞不同的氣味和觸覺,來辨別自己的位置。她憑著一股「精勤不懈」讀了很多書,甚至還追尋更大的夢想,那就是「開口說話」。這對她而言根本是不可能的挑戰,可是她始終沒有退縮,每天刻苦練習。

「爸爸!媽媽!」當海倫•凱勒第一次「喊出」親人的名字時,全家人都驚喜的擁抱了她,喜悅的眼淚奪眶而出。一個從一歲多起就又盲又聾的女孩,不但學會了讀書和說話,而且還懂得英語、法語、德語、拉丁語、希臘語五種語言,她還寫了很多文學著作。

是幸運之神比較眷顧嗎?還是運氣比較好呢?
其實,她是靠著不斷努力,向世人證明:一個從小就聽不到、看不見的殘疾人士,也可以創造奇蹟。

There was a legendary deaf-blind renowned writer, Helen Keller. She was born deaf and blind. She went through life in total darkness and loneliness since young. No one understood her despair, pain and suffering. How did she ultimately overcome her birth defects to achieve extraordinary success in life?
.
In her daily life, she recognized and distinguished between different people by using her hands to feel their faces, material of clothing or their smell. She relied heavily on her sense of touch to move around. Though she was born with physical disabilities, she was relentless in her pursuit of knowledge and read many books. In fact, she had big dreams and hoped to be able to talk one day. This was a given for everyone, but it was a challenging and daunting task to her! However, she persevered and continued her daily practice.
.
“Dad! Mom!” When Helen Keller shouted for her parents for the very first time, the whole family was amazed and embraced her with teary eyes. A girl that was deaf and blind since age one was able to read and speak five languages, English, French, German, Latin and Greek. Not only that, she was able to write literatures!
.
Was it more of a luck or was she plain fortunate?
In fact, she proved to the world through her hard work: even a physically disabled blind-deaf person since young can create miracles in life!
.
Indeed Helen Keller’s life is a miracle. But this miracle is through diligence and perseverance. The hard work she put in may far beyond everyone’s imagination. This is the same for our meditation practice. Our cultivation is not dependent on whether we have a superior start but whether we are diligent in our effort.
.

★.第二個,不要吃辣椒和一些補氣的東西,如雞蛋、肉食之類的,容易上火的食物少吃,這樣火氣會小一些。(此外,經常備一些涼茶。)
★.第三個原因,經常發火的人,可能是大腦部分被堵塞住了,所以很多事想不通,就靠發火來解決問題。

所以,容易發火的人特別適合來「禪修」,「禪修」之後,你的家庭就會幸福很多,如果你的家人經常和你吵架,你來「禪修」之後脾氣會變得好一些,你的家庭、事業、友情等就會越來越和諧、順利、幸福的。

問:「在生命的加減法中,有沒有一種實實在在的方法,能夠使我們的疾病、痛苦越來越少,而健康、快樂的能量越來越多呢?」

答案是:「有的」。
在韓國禪堂,有一位女弟子,她患有嚴重的風濕性關節炎,發作時會疼痛到哭。一直治不好,在一個機緣下遇上菩提禪修。第一次見面,就碰上我們韓國最嚴格的老師,女弟子問:「怎麼修才可以讓我快一點不再痛苦?」

老師:「磕頭,做大禮拜,一天磕八個鐘頭。」這誰受得了啊?!可是她就接受了。

「精誠所至,金石為開。」她磕了半年,風濕性關節炎竟然真的好了。原來已經變形,不能抓東西的手,現在竟能幹活了,縫衣服都可以了。我去韓國時,還給我做韓國飯。 她告訴我:「我現在有了健康,快樂也更多了。」

所以,通過「禪修」通常會帶給人們健康。
那麼「禪修」是如何使我們的身體獲得健康,快樂的?

How can we attain good health easily?
.
Question: [In life’s formulas, is there any effective method to alleviate our illnesses, pain and sufferings while increasing our energy for good health and happiness?] .
Answer: [Yes] .
There was a female disciple from Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis. The pain was so bad that she would lose control and teared whenever the pain acted up. She tried all means to cure her illness but to no avail. On one rare occasion, she came to know about Bodhi Meditation. During her first visit to Bodhi, she met a teacher in Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who had a reputation of being strict. The female disciple asked: [What can I do to alleviate my body discomfort and pain?] .
Teacher: [Kow-tow, practice prostration eight hours each day.] This was not an easy task. However she abided by the teacher’s instruction and did as she was told.

As the Chinese saying goes: [Absolute sincerity can move even metals.] After half a year of prostration practice, she recovered completely. Previously she had problems holding things with her hands, now she can perform a lot of tasks, including sewing. When I was at Korea, she even prepared a Korean meal for me. She told me:[ I am very healthy and happy now.] .
At times, it is very hard to predict the benefits of meditation. However, generally one’s health will improve after meditation.
