世界上最長的木雕

他把《清明上河圖》雕刻於一塊大殘木上,用一塊千年的木料重現宋朝風華!

2013年,中國福建工藝美術大師鄭春輝創造了一項吉尼斯世界紀錄——「世界上最長的木雕」。
.
這個《清明上河圖》木雕作品,長度為12.286米、高度3.075米、寬度2.401米,它再現了中國宋朝都城的繁華景象。作品中雕刻人物550多人,每個人長約一寸;車轎20多乘、船隻20多艘、屋舍樓榭更是不計其數。
.
整幅作品歷時近4年,採用鏤空雕、透雕、浮雕和莆田精微透雕等雕刻技法創作,繁而不雜、層次分明,人物的喧鬧聲、行船聲和流水聲都仿佛在耳畔。

鬼斧神工,氣勢磅礴,真是令人歎為觀止!

峨眉山,雄踞於中國四川省西南部,與五臺山、普陀山、九華山並稱為中國佛教四大名山,是舉世聞名的普賢菩薩道場。它以雄、秀、神、奇、靈得名,有著深厚的佛教文化底蘊,1996年12月被列入《世界自然與文化遺產名錄》。

峨眉山尤其以「峨眉山金頂」而著名。金頂,也稱華藏寺,是峨眉山的象徵和標誌,亦是普賢菩薩金像所在。

48米高的四面十方普賢金像,矗立在金頂,集天地靈氣,映日月光輝,俯世俗百態,圓眾生心願。端莊優美的普賢菩薩,端座於白象和蓮花座臺上,端凝、悲憫、祥和,四方雲霧飄浮繚繞著佛身,當太陽的霞光照在佛像的寶頂上時,無數的祥光瑞氣從金佛上反射出來,耀眼奪目,十分壯觀,震撼著芸芸眾生的心靈。

注意!不要生吃羅馬生菜!
──美加地區暴發大腸桿菌感染疫情

美國疾病控制中心(CDC)與加拿大公共衛生機構近期都發布了大腸桿菌感染疫情與生食羅馬生菜有關的申明,目前正在追查這一系列的大腸桿菌爆發事件之間的關聯。

疾病控制中心發言人在申明中指出:「初步結果顯示,這兩個國家使人患病的大腸桿菌類型密切相關,這意味病人很可能有一個共同的感染源。」自2017年11月中旬至目前,加美地區已有數十人因感染一種很危險的大腸桿菌菌株O157:H7的案例。加拿大公共衛生機構於12月11日宣布對大腸桿菌菌株O157:H7所造成的感染進行調查,目前的41 起病例,包括安大略東部省份8個、魁北克省14個、新不倫瑞克省5個、新斯科舍省1個、紐芬蘭和拉布拉多省13 個。美國疾病控制中心也公布了美國13州已出現17起感染病例,最早出現是在2017年11月15日,其中5人住院、1人死亡,有2人出現溶血性尿毒綜合症。美國與加拿大各有一起死亡事件。

加拿大公共衛生機構已確定了生菜來源,但「感染原因」還未確定。大腸桿菌汙染生菜的原因很多,像是澆灌汙染的水源或生禽糞便,不衛生的運輸或儲存過程,或是料理時通過生肉的交叉感染都有可能。

呼籲朋友們近期不要生食羅馬生菜,處理食材時更要注意衛生,飲食方面盡量掌握熟食的原則。祈願染病的朋友們能早日康復;疫情不要再擴大。

通過走八卦,失眠和青光眼消失

現代人工作壓力大,常有失眠的困擾,嚴重干擾睡眠品質,甚至影響日常作息,再加上經常使用手機與電腦,青光眼也成為了現代人的文明病之一。他走了兩個月的「八卦」就讓失眠的問題消失,再持續堅持天天走「八卦」,眼睛的問題也逐漸改善,他是怎麼恢復健康的呢?一起來看看他的故事吧。

來自馬來西亞- 陳銘康的禪修故事
.
我從2005年開始失眠,每個星期至少有2次要到淩晨4-5點鐘才能入眠,其餘的時間都是淩晨2-3點鐘醒來後就無法入眠了,因怕藥物的副作用,所以我一直沒有服用安眠藥。失眠嚴重影響了我的工作和生活,因為白天沒有精神。

2015年3月,我的眼睛一到晚上看東西就會非常模糊,而且情況越來越嚴重。同年6月份醫生確診我患有青光眼,眼壓達到28mmHg,醫生即刻幫我做了雷射治療,但也只能降到20mmHg(注:眼壓正常值是10-21 mmHg,但醫生說我這種狀況要降到15mmHg以下才算恢復正常)。醫生給我配了眼藥水,同時告訴我眼藥水不一定能控制住眼壓的上升,嚴重的話一定要動手術,但動手術有50%的風險,如果不做手術就可能瞎掉。

2016年7月,我晨練時看到很多人繞樹走「八卦」,懷著好奇心我也就跟著大家一起走,每天堅持走1個小時。2個月後,我的失眠消失了,每晚10點多鐘一躺下就能入睡,一直睡到早上6點鐘才起床。這讓我白天工作時精力充沛,信心十足。同年11月,我到醫院複查,眼壓竟然降到了17mmHg;今年(2017年)年初,眼壓降到了16mmHg;4月29日再次複查,眼壓竟然降到了13mmHg,我的眼壓恢復了正常!同時眼睛看東西也變得清晰了,連醫生也為我感到高興。

除了身體上的收益,我的性格也改變了。幾十年來,我一直是一個很內向的人,不喜歡跟人溝通,每天都活在自己的世界裡,「八卦」點的人都叫我Mr.酷(酷先生)。 2017年3月我走進菩提禪修健身班,我開始變得開朗,喜歡接觸人了,對他人沒有排斥感了,而且我會把好的東西分享給大家,這在之前是從來沒有過的。

因為通過聆聽金菩提宗師的開示,我明白了什麼是慈悲。慈悲對我來講,是每天都要去保持的。

I suffered from insomnia since 2005. On a weekly basis, there will be at least two days where I will only fall asleep at 4-5 am. For the rest of the days, I will wake up at 2-3 am and will not be able to go back to sleep. As I was worried with the side effects of sleeping pills, I abstained from them. Insomnia greatly affected my work and lifestyle because I felt very tired during the day.

In March 2015, I started to experience blurred vision at night and as days passed, my eye condition deteriorated. In Jun 2015, I was diagnosed with glaucoma, my eye pressure was 28mmHg. Doctor immediately performed laser treatment on my eyes but my eye pressure only drop to 20mmHg (Note: Normal eye pressure ranges 10-21 mmHg. However doctor said for my condition, my eye pressure had to drop to below 15 mmHg in order to be considered normal).
.
Doctor prescribed eye drops for me and told me they may not be effective in controlling my eye pressure. If my eye pressure continued to go up, I may need to go for surgery. To make things worse, I was told the surgery had a risk of 50 percent. However I do not have a choice because if I choose not to go for surgery, I may become blind eventually.
.
On the morning of July 2016, I saw a group of people practicing Energy Bagua round a tree. Out of curiosity, I joined in and persevered to practice one hour every day. Two months later, my insomnia disappeared. The moment I lie down on bed at 10 pm, I fall asleep immediately and will only wake up the next morning at 6am. This made me very energetic and confident at work during the day. In Nov 2016, I went for medical checkup and was very surprised to find that my eye pressure had dropped to 17 mmHg.

During the beginning of 2017, my eye pressure dropped further to 16mmHg; during 29 April 2017 checkup, my eye pressure resumed to normal level! At the same time, my vision also became clearer. Even the doctor was happy for me.
.
Apart from physical health benefit, my character also changed for the better. Previously, I had always been an introvert. I do not like to communicate and socialize with people. I lived in my own world. At Energy Bagua point, everyone called me Mr Cool. In March 2017, I joined Bodhi’s Health and Fitness Meditation Retreat. Since then, I have grown to become more sociable and no longer harbour feelings of exclusion towards others. Now I will share good things with others. Before joining Bodhi, all these were alien to me.

From Grandmaster JinBodhi’s teachings, I gain a better understanding of compassion. Now I try to maintain a compassionate heart everyday.

[The rich eat tonics, the poor soak their feet] What are the benefits of a foot bath in the winter season?

As the saying goes: 「Chills invade our body through our feet, the legs show the first sign of aging.」 According to the Chinese physicians, 「Humans possess feet just as trees possess roots. The roots will decline first, follow by the withering of the tree. When old age comes to a man, the feet will decline first.」 Therefore, it is important to maintain the health of our feet in the winter season.

5th January in the Gregorian calendar this year is known as the “Minor Cold” solar term. Though termed as Minor Cold, according to past records, temperatures during the Minor Cold are lower than in the “Major Cold”. According to Chinese physicians, 「Blood coagulates when temperature is low」, so blood circulation improves in a warm environment and easily stagnates in a cold environment. Hence it is imperative to engage in more physical activity during the Minor Cold solar term so as to improve blood circulation. Before engaging in any exercise, it is important to do proper warm-ups. The exercise should increase gradually in terms of strength. Do not engage in sudden strenuous exercises so as to avoid sports injuries.

There is an old saying circulating among common folks: 「The rich eat tonics, the poor soak their feet.」 Indeed, a foot bath brings tremendous benefits to the body. During the Minor Cold, it is especially beneficial to have a foot bath just before retiring to bed. A comfortable foot bath should have a water temperature of 40 ℃. You may like to add onions and ginger to further promote blood circulation. After soaking your feet, give your feet a good rub at the center of the sole and wriggle your toes to stimulate acupuncture points of the feet. By massaging your feet gently for ten minutes a day, you can get rid of negative chills, keep your body warm and relieve fatigue, thereby leading to a good sleep. Try it and reap the benefits!

[January] A smile will open doors, a praise will level mountains
If we want our lives to be filled with happiness and joy, we ought to be generous with our praises.

A good life is possible when there are more praises and less criticisms. Everybody likes to be praised. The ability to motivate people through praises is a very powerful skill. Praises not only make the recipient happy, they make us feel good as well. A word of praise may inspire a child to create a remarkable future for himself or herself.

Let us conquer the world with our smiles. As we smile at others, let us forgive them for the wrongs that they did to us, and for the troubles that they brought us. We need to understand that we might have caused them troubles too. Let us learn to forgive our enemies, as the reason that they hurt us is due to ignorance.

Today, I am the most compassionate and the most tolerant; like the ocean, I can embrace everything. As I aspire to keep a smile on my face and peace in my heart, I will live in the present and create the future with a positive mindset.

As we give out smiles and praises, we will receive benefits as well. Even as we bring forth happiness and joy in other people’s lives, we will be creating happiness and joy in our own futures.

是什麼方法,讓健康變簡單了?

問:「在生命的加減法中,有沒有一種實實在在的方法,能夠使我們的疾病、痛苦越來越少,而健康、快樂的能量越來越多呢?」

答案是:「有的」。
在韓國禪堂,有一位女弟子,她患有嚴重的風濕性關節炎,發作時會疼痛到哭。一直治不好,在一個機緣下遇上菩提禪修。第一次見面,就碰上我們韓國最嚴格的老師,女弟子問:「怎麼修才可以讓我快一點不再痛苦?」

老師:「磕頭,做大禮拜,一天磕八個鐘頭。」這誰受得了啊?!可是她就接受了。

「精誠所至,金石為開。」她磕了半年,風濕性關節炎竟然真的好了。原來已經變形,不能抓東西的手,現在竟能幹活了,縫衣服都可以了。我去韓國時,還給我做韓國飯。 她告訴我:「我現在有了健康,快樂也更多了。」

所以,通過「禪修」通常會帶給人們健康。

How can we attain good health easily?
.
Question: [In life’s formulas, is there any effective method to alleviate our illnesses, pain and sufferings while increasing our energy for good health and happiness?] .
Answer: [Yes] .
There was a female disciple from Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis. The pain was so bad that she would lose control and teared whenever the pain acted up. She tried all means to cure her illness but to no avail. On one rare occasion, she came to know about Bodhi Meditation. During her first visit to Bodhi, she met a teacher in Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who had a reputation of being strict. The female disciple asked: [What can I do to alleviate my body discomfort and pain?] .
Teacher: [Kow-tow, practice prostration eight hours each day.] This was not an easy task. However she abided by the teacher’s instruction and did as she was told.
.
As the Chinese saying goes: [Absolute sincerity can move even metals.] After half a year of prostration practice, she recovered completely. Previously she had problems holding things with her hands, now she can perform a lot of tasks, including sewing. When I was at Korea, she even prepared a Korean meal for me. She told me:[ I am very healthy and happy now.] .
At times, it is very hard to predict the benefits of meditation. However, generally one’s health will improve after meditation.
