因為不同的成長環境,造就了人們不同的性格差異,有的人天生樂觀、有的膽怯懦弱,而不同的人生觀,也造就了不同的生命風貌,那麼已經定型的生命風貌有沒有可能改變呢?看看下面這個真實的故事吧。

我從2013年初開始,經常會頭痛,一痛就得服用止痛藥,我知道我的頭痛可能與我的生活習慣有關,因為我每天很晚大約11點才洗澡洗頭,頭髮沒有吹乾就躺在床上玩平板電腦,時常因此玩到凌晨3、4點才睡覺。

同年9月中,我到新加坡參加了8天半的建身班,課程到了第6天,我發現頭竟然不痛了,之後偶爾睡得少時,頭也只是微微不舒服,但再也不需要服藥了。
.
我的獲益不僅是頭痛好了,學習禪修前,我的性格有些急躁,非常缺少耐性,每次母親說我不是時我都會不高興。禪修之後,金菩提宗師的慈悲大愛讓我變得柔軟,我開始明白要怎樣做一個善良、柔軟的人。所以我改變自己的態度,試著更溫柔、耐心地與家人、朋友交流,有時即便是受到母親的責備,也能夠心平氣和地聆聽,母親見我不再和她吵嘴,也漸漸的不再用責備的語氣和我溝通,我們母女倆的感情因此更好了,和母親的心也更貼近了。

現在,我也加入了雅加達禪堂志工團隊,學習去散播愛和溫暖給更多的人,漸漸地我變得越來越自信,敢於在大眾面前說話了,這樣的改變,是我從不知道的自己,原來自卑的我也可以如此閃耀。

Have a fulfilling life helping others!
I started having frequent headaches in 2013 and had to be on painkillers. I knew that the frequent headaches were probably due to my lifestyle. During then, I would wash my hair late in the night at around 11pm, and laid in bed with my wet hair as I played with my tablet till 3 to 4am before dozing off.

In September 2013, I attended the 8.5 Day Health and Happiness Retreat in Singapore. On the 6th day of the class, my headache was gone. Thereafter, I only get occasional headaches due to lack of sleep, but did not need to take painkillers anymore.

I have also received other benefits through meditation besides getting rid of my frequent headaches. I used to be very impatient and would be unhappy whenever my mother said something that upset me. All these changed after learning meditation and receiving Grandmaster JinBodhi’s all compassionate love. I became kind and gentle towards my family and friends. Occasionally, whenever my mum scolded me, I was able to listen to her calmly. Upon seeing the change in me, my mother also started to be less harsh with me and our relationship improved as we grew closer.

Now I am a volunteer in the Bodhi Meditation Center in Jakarta, Indonesia, learning to spread the love and warmth that I’ve received to more people. Gradually, I am gaining more self confidence and am not afraid to speak in front of large groups. Little did I expect that the inferior me can also shine like the person I have become now.

Giving You A Bright Full Moon

On an extremely dark night, an elderly lady was heading home alone in the dark. Just before she left, I reassured her: “You will be fine. I am giving you a bright full moon as a gift.”

Amazingly, on her way home, the elderly lady could literally feel an auspicious moonlight directing her path ahead. Under the guidance of the brilliant moonlight, the elderly lady reached home safely. However when she turned on the lights in her house and looked outside, she was astonished to see darkness surrounding her! There was no sign of light at all! What happened to the moonlight earlier?

Bodhisattva Heart

Whenever we are disappointed, sad or sick, we often think longingly of our mothers. That is because our mothers had always showered us with meticulous care, selfless compassion and loving kindness, akin to that of a Bodhisattva.

When we are in need of help in our daily lives, those who give us a helping hand are also a manifestation of a Bodhisattva.
.
In fact, the true Bodhisattva is not far and unreachable high above the Heavens.
.
It is actually all around you, in the form of true compassion and warm kindness.
.
If you can exude such selfless compassion and kindness, then you will be the Bodhisattva amongst your fellow Man, always present by their side.

聰明反被聰明誤?

人總習慣用自己的方式去理解他人,誤會往往就是這樣產生的,不但讓自己生出憎恨心,還容易危害到自己。
.
我講一個我過去在中國青海時候的故事:
在青海的路上,我看到一輛大卡車有個輪胎轉得不正常。我出門多有經驗,看那個輪胎有一點搖擺感,就感覺是螺絲鬆了。如果它飛出來的話,第一它沒有輪胎了、第二可能傷到別人。
.
我就給那個司機招手,指指他後面輪胎,要他看一下。那個人卻狠狠地瞪我一眼,罵了一句:「媽的,想搭我的車呀!」以為我要占他便宜。我繼續皺著眉頭喊:「嚴重!嚴重!」他就是不管,繼續開著車走了。
.
沒想到車跑沒多遠,那個輪胎「咻——」就像飛盤一樣飛到前面的山溝裡面去了。他就追著輪胎跑了一公里啊,下到山溝裡去把輪胎抱上來。那個山坡至少有五十米高;輪胎多重啊,至少有五十公斤吧,多難啊!他好不容易給弄上來後,累得一點兒力氣都沒有了!結果還是我幫他裝上輪胎。我說:「怎麼樣?朋友,我是好心好意提醒你。」
.
有些人在決策時,總認為自己想的就一定是對的!不願意參考別人的意見,這樣的態度可能會讓自己無法理性判斷,處理方式因此有所偏頗,甚至傷害到自己和身邊所有的人。

People are always accustomed to understand others in their own way. This often causes misunderstandings and even hatred and dislike for one another. They can also get hurt in the process.
.
Let me share a story that took place in Qinghai province, China:
Once, on my way to Qinghai, I saw a moving truck with one of its tires turning abnormally. From experience, I knew that the screws of the wheel had loosened and if it comes off, it could hurt someone else.
I waved to the driver, pointing to his rear tire and signaling him to look at it. The man gave me a stare and scolded me, “Why, you want a free ride?” Apparently, he thought I wanted to take advantage of him. I frowned and shouted, “It’s serious!” He ignored me and drove driving away.
.
Shortly after, the wheel came off and flew towards the hillside. He had to run almost a kilometer to get the wheel from the hillside that was at least 50 meters in height. By the time he climbed down to pick up the heavy tire that weight almost 50 kg, he was too tired to get up. Eventually, I helped him to fit the tire. I said, “Friend, didn’t I try to remind you of your wheel?”
Some people always assume that they are always right when they make judgement or decision. They are not open to other’s opinion. Such mentality and attitude could cloud one’s objectivity and ultimately lead to a bias decision. In more serious case, such wrong decision might even cause harm to them or others.
.
Today, let’s talk about “The Six Perfections – Part 1” and explore how we can break away from accustomed thinking so that it does not affect our objective judgement, thus allowing us to lead a wiser, happier and more harmonious life.
.

慈悲護生的心

問:「您說修行人不能殺生,那害蟲怎麼辦?老鼠、蟑螂又怎麼辦?」
.
答:
第一, 不主動、蓄意殺生,盡量使用驅趕的方法。
第二, 對生命要有正確的理解。
第三, 有「慈悲的心」去愛護眾生,愛這個世界。
.
在中國古代,什麼叫富裕?第一有糧倉,第二有豬羊,第三有老鼠,這說明你家是富裕的。如果你家窮得連老鼠都不願意去,你想這樣好嗎?
.
還有,在藏傳佛教當中有一尊象徵財富的神_黃財神,祂的手裡就托了一隻老鼠。
.
至於蒼蠅、蚊子呢,通常是越打越多。你越打蚊子,蚊子越來叮你,這裡最明顯的是蜜蜂,假如你打死個蜜蜂,所有的蜜蜂都會來蟄你,你不打、不理,也許也有蟄的,就是少。就越打會越嚴重。
.
釋迦牟尼佛說:「人體,由地水火風四大元素,四大和合而成。」
也就是說我們來自于這個自然,來自於這個世界,我們還要愛這個世界。因為愛它,所以「不故意」地去傷害它。
.
關於殺生,我的倡議是「能不吃的儘量不吃」,和對其他動物、植物類的傷害。
.
.
Protect lives with Compassion
.
Q: “Buddhist practitioners are not supposed to kill any living things. But what do we do with pests such as insects, cockroaches and rodents?”
.
A: First, do not take the initiative to intentionally kill or try to drive the pests away. Second, have a correct understanding of lives. Third, have compassion and care for all sentient beings and love the world.
.
In ancient China, what is considered as a wealthy family? Firstly, they have a granary, secondly, they have pigs and sheep, and thirdly, they have rats. These are signs of wealth. If the family is too poor, do you think rats will be willing to go to their house?
In Tibetan Buddhism, there is a Yellow God of Fortune (Jambhala), who holds a rat in his hand.
.
As for the flies and mosquitoes, the more you hit them, the more they will come. The more mosquitoes you hit, the more will bite you. A more obvious example is a bee. If you kill a bee, all the other bees will come and sting you. If you do not fight back and just ignore them, the sting will be less painful. The more you hit them, the more serious is the pain. Sakyamuni Buddha said: “The human body is made up of four elements of earth, water, fire and wind, meaning that we originated from nature and this world. We should love this world and not cause intentional harm or hurt to all living beings on this world.

My advice is to avoid meat as much as possible and do not harm animals and plants. . .

把心打開,讓陽光進來,讓喜悅進來,讓寬容進來,讓慈悲進來,讓真誠進來,我們的生命就成長了。

好比一個好吃的蘋果、水果,都要經過各種氣溫的鍛鍊。譬如說,天冷一點的時候早晨有霜凍!中午的時候又很曬!很多人的皮膚在太陽下直接曝曬,兩個小時之後就爆裂了。所以,就是一個水果想長成好吃的、被人喜歡的水果,都要經歷著一切苦,它才能成就。
.
願每個人都能得到幸福、得到愛;每個人都能得到一份自己應有的工作,並熱愛自己的工作,因為,這是你自己選擇的人生。
.

Break through our predicaments

Open up our hearts to let the sunlight, joy, tolerance, compassion and sincerity in.
We will then be able to transcend our lives.

Like any delicious apple, or fruit, we must also experience all sorts of challenges posed by our environment as we grow. Such as the chilling frost in the morning when the weather is cold! And the intense heat in noon! Many people’s skin will give way after two hours of direct sun exposure. Thus, a fruit that “aspire” to grow into a delicious, and popular one must surmount all the challenging trials before it can achieve success.
