有個快要結婚的女同修來找我說她的煩惱:「師父,我打算跟男友結婚了,可是不管我怎麼努力,又是挨餓、又是戒糖,什麼方法都想過了,可體重就是沒減輕,要是再瘦不下來,我不敢去拍婚紗照了!」
.
我看了看她,稍微圓潤了些,但也不是很胖,就問她:「妳男朋友這麼在意妳的身材呀?如果一個男人要妳挨餓來成就他的面子,他肯定不是真的愛妳,這男人妳就得衡量一下了。」
.
「不是的師父,他說我是胖是瘦,他一點也不在意。」她說
.
「他都不在意了,妳還煩惱什麼呀?」我說
.
「可是師父,我自己想要當個漂亮的新娘呀!」她相當憂愁的樣子
.
我告訴她:「挨餓、吃減肥藥都不健康,妳要想瘦下來,我教妳幾個方法!
第一,早上起床和三餐飯前都先喝一杯溫水,冷的也行,但不要喝冰的。
第二,每天早上5點準時到八卦點走八卦。
第三,少吃肉,多吃當季的蔬菜水果。只要這幾個方法都做到了,妳肯定可以瘦下來了。」

她為了當個最美的新娘,回去就扎扎實實照著做。不到半年之後我再看到她,那時候剛好是她結婚前一個星期,我發現她瘦了一圈,至少輕了10公斤,體態變美了;而且氣色變得紅潤,連痘子都不長了,很顯然,她真的成功讓自己變成最美麗的新娘了。

所以,想要減肥成功,靠的絕對不是挨餓和吃藥。
我要傳達給大家的是『健康』的理念,就算是要瘦身,我也希望大家能以對身體負擔最小、最不傷身的方式健康地瘦下來。

也想瘦身、變窈窕的朋友們,不妨也來試試看,或許會有意想不到的效果。最後要祝大家:身體健康、體態勻稱,每個人都能自信、快樂!

A most effective slimming method

Once, a female Bodhi student who was getting married approached me on her problems. She said, “Master, I am getting married soon. Despite putting much effort including eating less, enduring hunger, staying away from sugar and various other means, I am unable to lose weight. I am reluctant to take my wedding photos if I am unable to slim down.”
.
I took a close look at her. She was a bit rounded but not too plump. I asked her, “Is your boyfriend very concerned about your body figure? If a man wants you to stay hungry in order to satisfy his ego, he may not truly love you. Should this be the case, you may want to reassess your marriage plans.”
.
“Master, he is not like that. He told me he is not at all concerned about my figure.” said the young lady.
.
“If he is not concerned, so what is troubling you? ” I asked.
.
“Master, I wish to be a pretty bride on my wedding day!” she said, looking miserable.
.
I told her, “enduring hunger and taking slimming pills are not healthy ways. I would share with you a few methods if you wish to slim down!
First, when you wake up in the morning and before every meal, drink a glass of warm water. Cool water is alright too but not chilled water.
Second, practice the Energy Bagua diligently at the designated point at 5am punctually every morning. Third, consume less meat but more vegetables and fruits of the current season.
If you can adhere to these three methods, you will surely slim down.”

With her determination to be a pretty bride, she followed my instructions and practiced faithfully. When I saw her again in less that half a year, and just one week before her wedding, I realized she has slimmed down significantly, at least by 10 kg. She has a beautiful figure now. More than that, she has rosy cheeks and her pimples vanished. She really transformed herself into a very beautiful bride.

If you, too, wish to lose weight and slim down, going hungry and taking slimming pills are definitely not the way!

I wish to emphasize to everyone the importance of “Health”. Even when you work to slim down, you must adopt a healthy method so as to minimize any burden or harm to your body.

為什麼飲食和心情會影響健康?

有一次,一位女學員吃完飯後喊肚子疼,我一問才知道,原因是她在吃飯時和男朋友嘔氣了。以我過去的經驗,無論是在家裡做飯、還是吃飯,我們的心情都是至關重要的。
.
根據聯合醫學研究報導,人類65%-90%的疾病與心理和情緒有關。
所以,如果整天焦躁不安、發怒、緊張,心裡充滿負面情緒,人體的免疫系統就會受到抑制和傷害,心血管系統也會因為長期過勞而變得脆弱,即便你吃了很多保健食品或食物,都無法真正有效達到健康的目的。

首先,在烹調食物的過程中,需要以正面感恩、快樂的心情,用輕鬆的心情來製作,這些食物就會變成了「美食」 ,滋養我們、幫助我們獲得健康。反之,若用憤怒、埋怨的心情烹調,他的味道和作用也會有所不同的。
.
最重要的一點,就是在吃飯的時候,如果我們能用一種快樂、感恩的心,和每一粒米飯在對話:「謝謝你,給我帶來健康。」以幸福的一種心態來吃飯,這個米飯就產生了生命力,它不僅僅是一顆米了,而是一顆小苗苗,生命的連結就產生了。

因為吃了感恩的米飯後,身體的系統接受到的是喜悅的、開放的能量,食物不但能順利被消化、大部分的營養也能被人體吸收。反之,生氣鬱悶的時候,就連喝水都容易被嗆到、吃飯也容易噎著,幾乎就像吃進毒藥一樣。

所以,我們要學習用快樂的心、感恩的心去吃飯,會更營養、更健康。

On one occasion, a female student had stomach ache after a meal. Upon asking, I found out that she had squabbled with her boyfriend during the meal. Based on my past experience, whether it is cooking or eating our meals, our emotions are very important.

According to joint medical research reports, 65%-90% of human diseases are related to mental and emotional issues.

Therefore, if one is restless, angry, tense and full of negative emotions for the whole day, the body immune system will be clogged and damaged, and the cardiovascular system will become vulnerable due to long-term fatigue. Even if we consume abundant health food or products, it cannot bring our health back.

First of all, when we cook, we can have a positive feeling of gratitude, joy and tranquility. The food thus becomes a “delicacy”, nourishing and making us healthy. On the contrary, if we cook with frustration and complaints, the taste and nourishment would be lacking.
.
The most important point is, to be happy and grateful during meal times; thankful for every grain of rice that gives us health. Eating in a happy state of mind, brings vitality. It is not just a grain of rice, it is a small seedling that binds all connections of life .

By consuming rice with gratitude, the body system receives joyful energy. The food is not only easily digested, most of the nutrition can also be absorbed by the body. On the other hand, when one is angry and depressed, even drinking water or eating can easily cause one to choke, similar to taking poison.
.
Thus, we must learn to eat with joy and gratitude. In this way, the food will be more nutritious and we will be healthier.
.

有一次聽到一位小朋友說:「我喜歡和爸爸玩,因為媽媽總是拒絕給我玩泥土、挖沙子,說太髒了、會生病!可是爸爸說『髒』孩子更健康。所以我喜歡和爸爸一起玩!」
.
我聽完,心中挺有感觸。泥土真的髒嗎?我倒是覺得能跟大自然接觸,像是樸實的泥土、沙子、草、小石頭子等等,它們不但不髒、還都很美。
.
有一回我和幾個弟子一起出去走走,看到一顆大樹長得挺茂盛,生氣蓬勃的,沒找凳子我就直接坐到大樹旁地上,跟土地親近。弟子心挺好:「師父,拿個墊子給您墊上,不夠就多弄兩層吧,要不把我衣服也墊上吧,別把屁股坐髒了。」
.
我說:「草地髒嗎?草比你衣服還乾淨呢!你衣服還是化學纖維的,這還都是自然的,知道嗎?」其實真正的原因是,我們非常需要土壤對我們的滋補和呵護。好多人到自然界裡玩,鞋穿厚厚的、襪子穿兩層、戴上面罩,把自己包裹得像木乃伊一樣,這哪叫接觸自然啊!
.
想想,假若心中有慈悲、眼界自然寬闊,能包容萬事萬物,以致能瞭解事物的原貌以及益處,在彼此相互作用下,我們的好多行為都會因此改變。
.
那麼,要如何更好地接近自然、更好地和自然溝通?

Is the soil dirty?

Once, I overheard a child said, “I like to play with my dad because my mother always disallows me to play with soil or dig in sand. She says it’s too dirty, and will make me sick! But dad tells me that “dirty” children are healthier. That’s why I like to play with my dad!”

Upon hearing the conversation, I contemplated. Is the soil really dirty? I actually feel that being in touch with nature, such as simple soil, sand, grass, small stones and so on are not dirty, but are in fact beautiful.

Once, I went out for a stroll with some disciples, we came across a big, lush and vibrant tree. Without looking for a stool, I directly sat on the ground near the tree, close to earth. A disciple with good intention came forward, “Master, here’s a cushion for you. If that is not enough, we can add a few more layers. Would you like me to put my jacket on top so that it will not soil your bottom?”

“Is the grass dirty?” I responded. “The grass is cleaner than your clothes! Your clothes are made from synthetic fibers while earth is all natural. Do you know?” The fact is we do need earth to nourish and protect us. Many people play in nature with thick shoes, double layered socks, face mask and all wrapped up like mummy. How is this in touch with nature!

Let us give this a thought – if there is compassion deep in our hearts, we will have broad vision, and we can accommodate everything. This extends to the appreciation of original appearance of forms, and their benefits. With this dynamic exchange, there will be positive changes in our behavior.

So how do we better approach nature and interact positively with nature?

May everyone who sees the statue of the Bodhisattva be filled with joy, auspiciousness, good health, longevity and good fortune.

Simhanada-Avakokjtesvara Bodhisattva is one of the incarnations of Guanyin Bodhisattva. This majestic Bodhisattva has the ability to heal all illnesses and liberate all sentient beings of the three realms from suffering. This Bodhisattva of tremendous power is also known as Qi Hou Guanyin or Lion’s Roar Guanyin in Mandarin.

This precious Buddhist treasure is enshrined in Taiwan’s New Taipei Bodhi Meditation Center. Carved from camphor wood during the Ming Dynasty, the Simhanada-Avakokjtesvara Bodhisattva statue has a regal and majestic appearance. According to legend, Simhanada-Avakokjtesvara Bodhisattva has enormous power and is able to heal all diseases and dispel all disasters.

記得大家小時候都喜歡過生日,是因為覺得我在長大?!但是當女生,一到二十歲以後過生日,就開始說:「我只有十八歲。」馬上就開始不長年齡,不長個兒了。

所以過了二十五歲的生日,並不是大家特別喜愛的事,當然我也不太在乎了,因為不過生日,也會變老啊;現在過生日,是想著:至少可以讓大家一起吃個蛋糕,一起來歡喜。

這一天,除了給自己許一個願,也希望大家都許個願。
祝愿每個人都「健康、快樂、富貴、慈悲!」
祝願每個人都是最「吉祥」的人!

【緬甸_大金石】 . . 看見信仰的力量…

看見信仰的力量!即使窮,也要把最好的獻給佛。
.
緬甸_大金石(Golden Rock)位於緬甸南部_孟邦(Mon State),位在海拔1100多公尺的山頂上,這顆大金石身長長約8公尺、有上百噸重,以令人難以置信的姿態,佇立於懸崖峭壁間,彷彿一不小心,就會滾落山崖。
.
石頭上面建造了一座_吉諦瑜佛塔(Kyaiktiyo Pagoda),約7公尺。傳說因為塔下埋著佛祖的兩根頭髮,所以才能撐住這顆大石不會滾落,信眾們深信不疑,將金箔貼滿了整顆石頭,因此變成一顆大金石。

緬甸人相信,若是一年內能到大金石朝聖3次,則今生不會窮貧,因此每天一早,這兒會湧進來自各地的信徒上山。他們說:「因為佛髮代表佛頭,有機會睡在佛頭身邊,是非常難得的!」因此大金石廣場上,有許多人就鋪塊蓆子,隨地而睡,所以全家大小露宿廣場也甘之如飴。

【The Golden Rock – Myanmar】
.
Witness the power of faith! Even if poor, one should offer the best before the Buddha.
.
The Golden Rock is located in the Mon state to the south of Myanmar. With an altitude of more than 1,100 meters above the sea level at its peak, the stone measures about 8 meters long, with a weight exceeding hundreds of tons. It is perched in a remarkable (yet treacherous) position against the cliff, where it seems a careless move can cause it to plunge into the abyss below.
.
Built atop the rock is the Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, of about 7 meters. Legend has it that due to two strands of the Buddha’s hair buried under the pagoda, the rock is well secured and thus has not tumbled down the cliff. Followers unwaveringly believe in it, and have used gold foil to plaster the whole stone, honoring it as the Golden Rock.
.
Myanmars believe that if one makes 3 pilgrimages to the Golden Rock in a year, he/ she will not be poor in this life. Thus, the monument will be crowded with followers from diverse places every morning. They reckon, “the hair of the Buddha represents the Buddha’s head. To have the opportunity to sleep by the Buddha’s head, is indeed very rare!” So, around the compound of the rock, there would be many people and families alike, laying mats, lying down and taking a nap – relishing with much pleasure despite the inherent risk.

Everyone is welcome to visit this monument, and if there’s time, take a stroll, pay homage and venerate the Buddha!!
