【?Congratulations!?】《English version of Buddhist Robes》 is published!

Good news for our English readers- the long-awaited English version of Buddhist Robes is published!

Though this book is easy to read and understand, it is highly inspirational!

The book records my numerous amazing magical encounters during my practice as well as the experiences and sentiments I had in the process of teaching the dharma and helping people. It is a golden key to compassion, good health and happiness.

Through receiving life’s inspiration to untie their heart knots, many people managed to find a path out of their current difficult situation to gain a new lease of life- a life filled with sunshine and hope. Some even had a deeper comprehending of the true meaning of life. The spiritual realm of these group of people had elevated and transcended to a higher level to bring them health and happiness.

May those with the opportunity to read Buddhist Robes:
lead a colourful, illuminated and happy life!
May Buddhist Robes bring you health and happiness!

【Energy Bagua Q&A】Practice 3 heats in summer and 3 colds in winter

?‍♀ Question: During the rainy season, can we practise Energy Bagua outdoors?

When practising Energy Bagua, it is most effective to do so outdoors all year round. As the saying goes, ‘Practice 3 heats in summer and 3 colds in winter’. Thus, if we can sustain our practice through the harshest of the days in summer and winter respectively, we would be able to master some skills in the process, and foster greater vitality.

An analogy is the forging of the weapon used in wars in ancient times – the sword. The sword is wrought from iron that had been subject to the furnace. As it turned blinding-white from the initial red-hot state, it is repeatedly hit with the hammer so that it will be toughened. Then, it is heated until red before plunging into cold water; a process called “quenching steel.” The successive hot-and-cold treatment is so that iron that is not hard enough initially, gradually become carbonized and tempered, enabling the blade to become sharper. A superior sword like this can even slice through cotton and rubber, its sharpness due to this process of ‘quenching’.

The human body may not be like steel, but the approach is similar – to sustain (our practice) through nature’s extreme heat and extreme cold. If we remain indoors, with air-conditioning in summer, and the heater in winter, the stable temperature means that we would always enjoy a temperature that of the spring. In this way, the training would not encompass the variations or ‘quenching’ of the four seasons.
Hence, where health permits, it is recommended that we practice outdoors.

Maintenance of practice through the hottest of the summers, and coldest of the winters thus helps to build strong physiques, provides great benefits to health, and is a superior practice approach. Such an approach offers the opportunity to enhance the practitioner’s constitution and skills. It is also a well-kept secret for health and wellness left behind by our forefathers.

Yet, in today’s increasingly urbanized societies, if one really do not have the convenience of practising Energy Bagua outdoors, you are welcome to join us at our respective Bodhi Meditation Centers or Energy Bagua centers.

【Meditation story series in your words】 How do we acquire good fortune?

In Meditation Story series which I shared two days ago, Chun Lan first saved the old lady’s grandson. Out of gratitude to Chun Lan, the old lady sponsored the school fees of Chun Lan’s daughter until she graduated from nursing school and started working in a hospital.

Subsequently, the old lady’s grandson was saved by Chun Lan’s daughter when he was seriously injured in an accident.

These series of events seem to be coincidental, however, does it all really happen by chance?

What do you think? How does good fortune come about??
————————————————————————-
I welcome you to use my analogy as your reference:

In reality, good fortune does not come by chance. In fact, we are masters of our own life destiny. This means we create our good fortune! If we wish to see transformation in something, we must transform ourselves first. Similarly, if we want to enjoy a smooth and auspicious life, we must start to be kind and compassionate first.

1.Chun Lan’s daughter graduated from nursing school successfully with the help of a sponsorship from the old lady because she saved the old lady’s grandson without consideration for her own safety!

★ This is a ripening of a kind fruit that is born out of a kind seed sown by Chun Lan through her kind act. A manifestation of good karma.

2.Chun Lan’s daughter successfully graduated from nursing school and started working in a hospital because the old lady sponsored her school fees. Being a nurse, saving lives is her natural instinct. During the accident, she actually rescued her benefactor- the person who indirectly helped her to complete her studies because of her kind heart!

★ This is a culmination of positive karmic bonds- As the old woman was grateful to Chun Lan for saving her grandson, she sponsored the school fees of her benefactor’s daughter. Due to this repaying act that was born out of gratitude, her benefactor’s daughter grew up and became her grandson’s benefactor by saving his life at the most critical moment. This is the Universal law of causation. You reap what you sow!

Let us be creators of our own good fortune. May you receive inspiration from the story of 【Good fortune does not come by chance】 and accumulate your resources of good fortune!!

May all be filled with bountiful good fortune and happiness!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I welcome you to use my analogy as your reference:

May all be filled with bountiful good fortune and happiness!

.

On this highly auspicious and magnificent day – the 2019 Bathing the Buddha festival – I was joined by all of you at Busan, South Korea, as we venerate and sing in praise to the Great Buddha.

More than 2000 years ago, the Great Compassionate Sakyamuni Buddha descended upon our world and began to enlighten sentient beings, guiding us the path out of sufferings, be healthy, and the approach towards enlightenment.

The teachings of the Buddha changed my life and elevated my heart with an unwavering aspiration – that with the compassionate spiritual powers bestowed by the Buddha and our positive karmic connections, you may gain the health and happiness of both body and mind.

Following the successful completion of our Korean Chanting class, many of our friends were chanting for the first time. In just 7 days, some of their bodily pain was relieved, some recovered from depression, and some mother-and-son resolved the knot in their hearts that had plagued them for 10 years! I was deeply moved by the testimonies at the class. All these were possible due to the compassion of the Buddha.

I welcome everyone to join me in sincerely venerating the Buddha, and be showered with his most auspicious blessings! Let us review the “2019 Bathing the Buddha Blessing Ceremony in Korea”

A thought of benevolence brings bountiful blessings

Just how powerful is a person’s thought?
Let me share with you a story about a poor woman who made a light offering!

When Buddha was giving Dharma talks at Savatthi, there was a poor woman named Nanda who eked out a living by begging.

Nanda often thought, “Due to the seeds of grave wrongdoings in the past, I am denigrated to a life of poverty and lowliness in this lifetime as they bore fruit. While I have the karmic connection to meet with the Buddha, I could not afford to offer anything to venerate the Buddha”. Nanda was inconsolably sad, as remorse weighed heavily on her destitute predicament.

On a fateful day, Nanda managed to receive a little penny after much difficulty. Elated, she immediately took the penny to the oil shop. She wanted to buy an oil lamp to venerate the Buddha, and seek the Buddha’s guidance out of her current predicament.

When Nanda took the penny to the oil shop, she realized that a penny simply could not afford an oil lamp! Following, she implored incessantly with the shopowner. Only after tremendous efforts did he agree to let her have double the amount of oil so that she can offer a full oil lamp to venerate the Buddha.

With the oil lamp in both hands, Nanda respectfully visited the Buddha’s sanctuary to offer the oil lamp before the Buddha.

She also made a great vow, “I am poor today because I did not know how to cultivate my merit field in my past life. I have nothing to offer before the Buddha except for this oil lamp. But I earnestly pray with this lamp before the Buddha, that with his perfect virtues, he can guide me out of this tragic fate of poverty, illness, pain and suffering, and in future, (may I) be able to guide all sentient beings away from ignorance and darkness, towards realization.

The next day, when Venerable Ananda entered the prayer hall for regular maintenance, he found that all the oil lamps had burned out; only the poor woman’s lamp continued to burn; in fact, her oil lamp and its wick had not the slightest sign of burning out, as if it had been newly-lit. He wanted to extinguish the fire, but found that no matter how hard he tried, he just could not do it.

Upon this sight, the Buddha explained, “This oil lamp is not one that you can extinguish, even if you use vast spiritual powers, or the waters from the four great seas, because it is offered by a devotee with immense Bodhichitta”.

Just as the Buddha had finished his sentence, Nanda entered the hall to venerate the Buddha once again. The Buddha said to her, “You will in two great asamkhyeyas eons attain Buddhahood and will be known as the Light Buddha”

After reading the story of the poor woman, don’t we feel more enlightened and inspired?
I hope that everyone’s wishes be fulfilled, and may all be filled with all-round happiness!
