《佛說阿彌陀經》描述西方極樂世界有七寶池,池中栽種了許多大如車輪的蓮花,清香而又潔淨,青色蓮花放出青色光芒,黃色蓮花放出黃色光芒,紅色蓮花放出紅色光芒,白色蓮花放出白色光芒,西方蓮花為七寶所成,七寶有:金、銀、琉璃、玻璃、硨磲、赤珠、瑪瑙。只要世上有一個人發心念佛,七寶池中就會生出一朵蓮花,念佛的人越念越歡喜,越念越誠心,這朵蓮花就會越來越光明、越來越鮮豔。等到這個念佛之人在人世圓滿之後,阿彌陀佛、觀世音菩薩與大勢至菩薩就會拿著這朵蓮花,來接引這個人到西方極樂世界。

重陽傳說

很久以前有個農夫,他住在河邊的一座村莊裡。
一直以來這條河有個很可怕的傳說,原來這條河裡,住著一隻可怕的怪獸,每逢九月初九這一天,怪獸都會出來散布可怕的病毒,讓村民得到怪病,人們得病之後會昏迷不醒,許多村民因此而死亡。

大家都很懼怕這個怪獸,但是卻沒有人敢去對付牠。怪獸年年出來害人,農夫心想這樣下去村裡的人會死光的,因此決心去尋找一個對付怪獸的辦法。
.
農夫歷經千辛萬苦,好不容易才打聽到,某座高山上有一個法力非常厲害的老者。於是,他向老者說明了自己的心意,希望能拜他為師,學習治病祛邪之術,老者爽快地答應了。
.
老人說:「這個病魔最害怕三樣東西:就是「大光明」、「菩提八卦掌」,還有「菩提寶瓶」。」老者又說:「可是這三樣寶貝,需要靠大家齊心合力共同來完成,才能對付這隻怪獸。」
.
農夫因此領著老者回到村里,並且告訴村民們方法,村民們都非常樂意共同努力打敗怪獸,捍衛自己的家園。因此,大家每天勤奮修練老者所傳授的八卦內功、和大光明功法。
.
終於,又到了九月九日這一天,頓時間天昏地暗、狂風怒吼,河水陣陣波濤翻攪,怪獸果然又現身了。沒想到怪獸一出河面,就被滿村的大光明給蒙住了眼睛,村民們此時正繞著大樹優閒的走著八卦,每一圈的換掌,都威震出河面圈圈漣漪,怪獸禁不住這樣強大的能量,趕急的躲回河裡。此時,老者趕快掏出了菩提寶瓶,向著怪獸大喝一聲:「收」,怪獸就被吸入寶瓶中被收伏了。

收伏了怪獸,老者向村民們說: 「記住,這些功法需要持續精進修行,不僅可以快速治癒身心的疾病,還能改惡行善,增福增壽,使家國富強。」還將菩提寶瓶贈送給大家做為鎮村之寶,說完後老者突然現出藥師佛莊嚴的法相,冉冉升向天空消失了。

從此,村民脫離怪獸的魔爪,再也不必害怕身染怪病。
往後每年的九月九日這一天,家家戶戶都要擺酒歡慶、飲菊花酒、插茱萸、觀賞秋色、消災免禍的風俗,一直延續至今。這也是藥師佛陀的十二大願,圓滿眾生所有的願望。

【霜降節--登高舒懷】

霜降是秋季的最後一個節氣,今年是在陽曆10月23日,太陽到達黃經210度。霜降節是由秋入冬的轉變,此時人體要多多儲存能量,做好禦寒保暖和運動熱身,預防支氣管炎、胃病、老寒腿的復發。
.
在飲食方面,民間有「冬補不如補霜降」的說法,可以適當吃些板栗、山藥、銀耳、大棗等,柿子是這一時節的當令水果,富含類胡蘿蔔素和維生素C,營養價值高,具有清熱潤肺,生津止渴,健脾化痰的功效。因此,民間有「霜降吃柿子,不會流鼻涕」的風俗,

霜降節氣裡有一個中國傳統節日:重陽節。《易經》中「六」為陰數,「九」為陽數,所以農曆九月九日稱為「重陽」,在這天,人們有登山遠眺的習俗,在寒冷的深秋,爬山可以鍛練肺活量,站在山頂,望著層林盡染、天高雲淡,意念「我就是大山,我就是天空,我就是宇宙」,一切得失都顯得那麼渺小,煩惱不如意悉數忘卻,重生一個無憂無愁、清心淡泊、充滿禪意的自己,這大概也算是天地人合一的一種修行吧。

The Day of Frost is the last of the autumn solar terms. The Day of Frost falls on October 23, when the sun hovers along the celestial longitude 210 degrees. It is the day when the transition from autumn to winter commences. It is also the time to start to preserve body energy, to ward off coldness and maintain warmth through exercises, and also prevent pneumonia, gastric pains and arthritis.

From the nutritional point of view, the old saying of “Boosting up at Day of Frost is always better than at winter” still applies. You can eat some chestnuts, yam, white fungus and jujube. Persimmon is one of the best fruits during this solar term as it is rich in carotenoids and vitamin C. It can also help clear the lungs, quench thirst and build on the spleen function. There’s a saying which goes as follows: “A persimmon a day keeps the running nose away”.
During the period of Frost, there is a Chinese traditional day called the Chong Yang Day. In the ancient book I Ching, the number 6 is Yin, and the number 9 is Yang. On the lunar 9th month and 9th day, it is the day of Chong Yang. On this day, it is common practice for people to track on the mountains. During the cool autumn days, climbing a mountain can help to warm and build up our lungs.

Standing amid mountains, looking at the sea of trees in the clouds, one can feel like we are the mountains, the sky and the universe. Everything seems so small, and as worries evaporates we become simple, plain and full of Zen. This is perhaps the closest we get to becoming unified with Heaven and Earth.

秋季天乾降水少,皮膚乾癢不停擾。
眠淺睡少起夜跑,看啥都愁甚煩惱。
秋氣好比一猛虎,冷暖寒涼疾病找。
若想伏虎防秋燥,食補運動不能少。
湯湯水水潤腸胃,少吃辛辣與煎烤。
菌中之冠銀耳好,開胃潤肺功效高。
山藥健脾補虛好,燉煮蒸食也能炒。
蓮子葡萄和雪梨,滋陰防燥都挺好。
南瓜渾身都是寶,降糖護腎補氣妙。
秋高氣爽宜登高,走走八卦元氣飽。
遠離悲秋情緒好,年紀雖老心不老。
學學小兒啥都好,幸福就在身邊找。
任它風吹山崩倒,我心如如不動了。

Autumn is dry with little rain; the dryness and itchiness of the skin constantly disturbs.
Sleep is light and brief so one jogs at night; everything appears as worries or even problems.
Autumn weather is like a fierce tiger, finding disease in the mist of weather fluctuations.
If you want to fight the tiger and prevent autumn dryness, tonics and exercise are necessary.
Soup and water moistens stomach and intestines; hot, spicy and fried food only eats in moderation.
Among the fungus, white fungus is best as it enhances appetite and nourishes the lungs.
Chinese yam invigorates and nourishes the spleen; it can be steamed, cooked, or fried.
Lotus seed, grapes and winter pear are effective in Yin nourishment and dryness prevention.
Pumpkin is full of treasures; it reduces sugar and protects the kidney.
Autumn air is clear and refreshing thus good for mountain ascend; practice Energy Bagua for enhanced vitality.
Stay away from sad autumn sentiment and be positive; remain young at heart.
Learn from little ones to appreciate everything; happiness can be found by your side.
Even as the wind ravages the mountains, my heart remains unmoved.

來自馬來西亞 妙法禪堂_法名友練
去年底大學畢業後的我才剛滿24歲,突然發現自己對未來很迷茫,找不到未來的方向。再加上身體狀況問題不斷,我的情緒一直不太穩定,因此家人就建議我來菩提禪修,今年5月,我很幸運地有機會參加了菩提禪修健身班。

參加健身班的頭幾天,我好像沒有什麼明顯的感覺。課程到了第7天,因為睡晚了,在時間緊迫的情況下,我去禪堂上課時忘記戴眼鏡,我才發現眼睛不痛了。因為如果我長時間不戴眼鏡,眼睛就會很疲倦、不舒服、頭痛和頭暈。由於眼睛還有散光,如果晚上開車不佩戴眼鏡,我會被來往車輛的車燈照射到眼睛而感到疼痛,在這樣的情況下開車是很危險的。可當天卻沒有那些狀況發生,而且晚上都可以不佩戴眼鏡開車了!從此我就不再需要依賴眼鏡了。

還有一個奇積,幾年前,我打羽毛球時傷到了腰,常常飽受腰酸痛的困擾。在課程第一、二天盤腿時我的腰特別酸痛,一直都很想站起來。課程第6天,我無意中發現腰的酸痛減少了很多。在健身班圓滿後,我的腰沒有再酸痛了,而且打球時也能完成高難度的動作,那是之前沒辦法做到的,而且從那時開始腰都沒有再“鬧脾氣”酸痛了。

—佛前「供燈」讓我心想事成—

最令我感動的是,班程中我點了一盞「祈福燈」,祈禱希望我能進入心目中的公司,並且課程那幾天都堅持完成108個或36個大禮拜,希望能一切順利。與此同時我又很想參加在7月22日開課,由金菩提宗師親自教授的、為期12天的菩提禪修青年禪修營(以下簡稱:禪修營)。因為我希望能得到金菩提宗師的指點,讓我走出在大學畢業後低谷和迷茫的日子。我擔心工作和禪修營的時間碰撞,點燈過後去求籤,真誠地向宗師請求,希望我在這兩件事上能都達成,如果不可以同時達到的話,請宗師替我安排,如何在這兩件事上取捨。是應該上班還是上禪修營?簽文提示我“勿莽撞,隨機應變”。

在7月4日,我接到心儀的公司讓我去上班的來電,我和電話裡的人說,我有事不能馬上上班,希望貴公司能把日期往後推移。他同意把日期延遲至7月20日。但這日期仍與禪修營的時間碰撞。我就告訴他們,如果貴公司願意等我,我將在8月3日準時上班。公司表示需要請示上級。我萬萬沒想到的是,幾天後我收到公司的電郵表示他們願意等我。最後,在禪修營圓滿結束後,我在8月3日準時上班了!這真是兩全其美,心想事成!這全是金菩提宗師的加持和護佑!

感恩這兩班課程給予我生命的啟示,我對未來不再迷茫了,我對自己要走的路清晰了。禪修營圓滿後,我把在禪修營學到的智慧運用在工作上,人際關係等各方面都順暢和順利多了!感恩金菩提宗師的加持與護佑!

I graduated from university last year at the age of 24 years. All of a sudden, I found myself at a loss as to what was in store for me in the future. I realize I did not have any clear direction in life. As I was also constantly having health problems, my mood was rather unstable. Thus, my family suggested that I join Bodhi Meditation. In May this year, I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend the 8.5 Day Health & Happiness Retreat.

For the first few days, I did not have any special feeling. On the 7th day of the retreat, due to lack of sleep and in the midst of rushing to class, I forgot to bring my spectacles. Strangely, my eyes did not hurt at all. Under normal circumstances, if I do not put on my spectacles for a long period of time, my eyes would become very tired and uncomfortable. I would also experience headache and dizziness. As I have astigmatism, I need to put on my spectacles at night. Otherwise, the lights from oncoming vehicles would cause me to have a headache. It is very dangerous to drive under such conditions. However, on that day, none of the above symptoms appeared. I was able to drive at night without having to put on my spectacles. From then on, I do not need to rely on my spectacles anymore when I am driving.

There was also another miracle. A few years ago, I hurt my waist during a badminton game. Since then, I always had to live with the back pain. On the first and second day of the retreat, my back hurt a lot when I was sitting cross legged. I was very tempted to stand up. On the 6th day of the retreat, I unexpectedly realized that my back pain had greatly reduced. After the retreat, I realized that my back did not hurt anymore. Since then, I have bid farewell to my back pain. When playing badminton, I am now able to handle challenging movements which was impossible in the past.

My wish was fulfilled by offering a light before Buddha. I was very touched by what happened after that. During the retreat, I offered a light for blessings so that I would be recruited by my dream Company. For the few days during the retreat, I persistently did 108 or 36 times of full-prostration, hoping that my dream would come true. At the same time, I also wished to be able to join a new class which commenced on 22 July as it would be led personally by Master Jin Bodhi. It was a 12-day youth meditation camp known in short as ‘meditation camp’. After graduating from university , I was constantly in low spirits and had been drifting aimlessly. I hoped to attend the camp to receive Master Jin Bodhi’s guidance for a clear direction. I was very concerned that the dates for the camp could clash with my new job. Thus after lighting a lamp, I went to draw a divination lot. I prayed sincerely to Master for his blessings that both my wishes could be fulfilled. Should the timing clashed, I hope Master would enlighten me to make a choice between taking up the new job or going for the camp. The divination slip prompted me “Don’t be impetuous, just be pragmatic”
.
On 4th July, I received a call from my dream Company. I informed them that I was unable to report to work immediately. They acceded to my request and deferred the commencement date to after 20 July. However, this was still within the period of the youth meditation camp. I told them that if the Company was willing to accommodate me, I would report to work on time on 3 August. They replied that they needed to seek approval from higher level management. I never imagined that after only a few days, I received a email from them saying that they were willing to wait for me. Thus, upon completion of the youth meditation camp, I reported for work on 3 August. This is really having the best of both worlds and my dream really came true! My deepest gratitude to Master Jin Bodhi for his blessings and protection!

I am really thankful for the two classes which I had attended as it really gave me inspiration in life. I am now very clear of the route I want to embark on and no longer confused as to what to do going forward. Upon completion of the youth camp, I applied the wisdom I gained from the camp to my work place. I am able to maintain a good interpersonal relationship at work and all other areas of my work also seems to fall nicely in place. My utmost gratitude to Master Jin Bodhi for his blessings and protection.
