隨著地球變暖,全球氣候正在發生變化。
能源專家表示,因為全球暖化效應,按照目前碳排放量水準計算,只夠維持地球壽命不到30年時間。
為有效對應全球變暖,170多個國家領導已共同簽署《巴黎協定》,2016年11月4日正式生效了。

「地球暖化」對人體健康有哪些影響?例如:
1.氣候被放大,引發森林大火頻率升高,森林消失。
2.全面影響海洋生態,以及打亂生產糧食的生態系統。
3.擴大傳染疾病的範圍和季節性。
4.增加颶風等極端天氣事件的出現頻率。

所以,如果我們還想大口呼吸,希望健康的在地球上生活,乃至於我們的子子孫孫,都能健康幸福。那麼,推動綠色、低碳、節約能源,已經是我們不能再忽視的問題。

因此,我倡議菩提弟子們共擔社會責任,從自己做起,選擇低碳的生活方式。比如衣著方面,減少購買量、選擇環保面料、儘量手洗。飲食方面,選擇應季食物、減少精緻加工品。旅遊方面,選購經濟環保型的汽車、多乘坐公共交通工具。生活方面,洗滌水二次利用、選用節能的電器、少用電梯多爬樓、使用環保袋、雙面列印、儘量不使用一次性用具、儘量購買包裝簡單的產品….等等。

其實,所有能產生電能的都是消耗自然的資源。在日常生活中,電是我們每天少不了的,咱們無法不用它,但我提示大家一個愛護能源的概念——「該用的就用,不該用的一定要節約」。

How long can you breathe freely?
Due to global warming, the Earth’s climate is undergoing drastic changes.
Energy experts have announced that the Earth’s lifespan will not exceed 30 years as a result of global warming. This timeframe was calculated based on current level of carbon emission. To effectively address the global warming issue, world leaders from more than 170 countries have come together and signed the Paris agreement, which became effective on 4 Nov 2016.
So what are some of the effects of global warming on our health?
1. As the climate issue gets worse, the frequency of forest fires will rise, resulting in the gradual disappearance of forests.
2. Marine ecology will be very much affected. The ecosystem supporting food production will also be severely disrupted.
3. Infectious diseases would occur more periodically and they would also spread over bigger areas.
4. There would also be increased occurrences of extreme weather conditions such as typhoons.
Hence, if we would like to continue taking in deep breaths and if we wish for us and our descendants to live healthily and happily on Earth, we must support energy sources that are green, with low carbon emissions. We need to start conserving energy. This issue is no longer something that we can ignore.
I advocate all Bodhi Meditation disciples to shoulder this social responsibility and live a low-carbon lifestyle. Start with yourself.
For example, when it comes to clothing: buy less often, choose clothing made of recycled material and hand-wash whenever possible.
When it comes to food: choose seasonal food and avoid highly processed food.
For travel: choose to own eco-friendly cars and take public transportation when possible.
In your daily life: reuse laundry water, use energy efficient electrical appliances, take the staircase more often, use recycle bags, print on both sides of the paper, refrain from using disposable products, choose to purchase products with simple packaging etc.
In reality, electricity generation expends natural resources. Electricity is integral to our daily lives and it is almost impossible for us to refrain from using it. We can follow this guideline for energy conservation instead: Use it when you need to, and conserve when you don’t.
