東大寺──奈良大佛

位於奈良市的東大寺,西元728年由日本聖武天皇所建造,從建築到完工花了近40年,為「南都(奈良)七大寺」之一,也是華嚴宗大本山。歷史上,東大寺曾數度因各種原因損毀,現存的建築為1709年建造;1998年,東大寺被聯合國教科文組織列為世界文化遺產。

東大寺分成大佛殿、南大門、二月堂、鐘樓等,其中寬57公尺、深50公尺的大佛殿,是全世界現存最大的古代木造建築,屋頂上兩根金色的「角」為其與眾不同之處。殿內供奉高逾15公尺的盧舍那佛(即大日如來,又稱「奈良大佛」);千百年來一直守護著南大門的,是知名的雙體力士金剛像。除了建築藝術之外,東大寺中也藏有不少珍貴的文物,如佛像、雕塑、繪畫、經文、工藝品等,都是非常重要的文化遺產。

奈良大佛左後方的梁柱下有一個30x37x108公分的小洞,有傳言這個洞的大小跟奈良大佛的鼻孔一樣大,所以這個洞又被戲稱為「大佛的鼻孔」。據說只要穿過這個洞口,都能平安吉祥、萬事順利,因此想到這裡「鑽鼻孔」的人們總是大排長龍。如果有同修到了東大寺,不妨可以去試試看自己能不能鑽過去,但是鑽的時候可得小心,別閃到腰了啊!

色彩繽紛的各類糖果、香甜可口的精緻蛋糕、人手一罐的好喝飲料,有些女生一看見這些甜食常常控制不住就多吃了。可是甜食吃多了,也許就會「中毒」呢!

這個糖吃多了之後,會引起身體的諸多危害:肥胖、皮膚老化、牙齒壞掉、骨質疏鬆、糖尿病、心血管疾病;過量的糖份還有可能改變內分泌的系統、打破荷爾蒙和激素的平衡,內臟之中幾乎每一個臟器都會被影響到。

「病從口入」,講得就是很多的疾病是吃出來的,吃錯了東西會讓我們的身體得病,所以女士們面對甜食時多少要節制些。建議少吃零食,多吃粗糧,適當地吃含糖少的蔬菜和水果:黃瓜、南瓜、番茄、苦瓜、洋蔥、四季豆、竹筍、白菜、芹菜、豆芽;芭樂、蘋果、梨、草莓、柚子等,以及堅果類都是很不錯的選擇。

During the autumn season, the Chrysanthemum flourishes and forms part of the menu. Besides its fresh fragrance, it has medicinal effects on health. Traditional Chinese Medicine has it that Chrysanthemum helps in cleansing the liver, improving our vision and detoxification. Below are some recommendations from friends for all to enjoy:

1. Red Dates-Chrysanthemum porridge: Red dates 100g, Chrysanthemum 15g; put both in water and bring to boil till it is sticky. Optional to add brown sugar for personal taste.

2. Chrysanthemum tea for better vision: Wolf-berry 10g, Chrysanthemum 6g, Cassia 20g, put all in boiling water, and then simmer for 15 minutes before consumption.

3. Chrysanthemum hotpot: add fresh Chrysanthemum petals to the hotpot soup to enhance the flagrance and taste of the soup base.

Please note that Chrysanthemum belongs to the “cold” category of flowers. It’s consumption should be avoided or minimized by children and old folks as well as those who are sensitive to such food, especially those having cold, flu, pregnancy or stomach aches. 曾經,有一位年輕的姑娘。她來上我的課,要結業時說:「我很感恩師父,我要給您跳支舞。」她跳得相當優美,媲美職業級舞者!結束後我問她:「你為什麼想要跳舞給我作為報恩呢? 」
.
她說:「這十多年來我一直被憂鬱症所困擾,憂鬱症是小時候我的老師給我烙下的病根。記得小時候我學跳舞,因為身材胖乎乎的,有幾個動作沒做好,老師當著課堂同學的面說:『妳以後不要再跳舞了,像豬一樣笨。』從此我深受打擊,再也不樂意與人群接觸。第一不樂意去學校、第二仇恨老師、第三不願意見同學,我就這麼湊合地活著。」
.
就這一句話,從此她成了憂鬱症。長大不願意談戀愛,她覺得自己是最醜的、也就沒再跳過舞了。所以那個老師一不小心就毀了這孩子一生,而我們誰都可能會不經意間發生這種過錯。
.
所以,我們要懂得去做一個最善良的人、慈悲的人,儘量做到「正心正語」,學習要說慈悲的話、柔軟的話、讓別人能容易接受的話,儘量不要說諷刺的話、挑撥的話、打擊的話、乃至毀滅別人的話。

Once there was a young lady who attended my class. Just when the class was about to end, she said to me, “Master, I am very grateful to you and would like to dance for you.” She danced beautifully and I thoroughly enjoyed her performance! On the completion of her dance I asked her, “Why did you dance for me?”
.
The young lady replied, “I suffered from depression for more than ten years and my teacher was the cause of my disease. I started to learn dancing when I was very young. But because I was slightly overweight, I was unable to perform some steps. My teacher scolded me and said that I was clumsy and stupid like a pig. I was badly affected and stopped interacting with people around me. First, I refused to go to school. Subsequently, I grew to hate my teachers. Thirdly, I avoided my classmates. Life was a misery.
.
As a result of this, she became depressed and grew up not wanting to date or enter into any relationship as she felt she was ugly. She also stopped dancing completely. So the teacher accidentally ruined the child’s life and anyone could have made the same mistake.
.
Therefore we must learn to be kind and compassionate and always have the “right intention and right speech”. We must learn to use kind and gentle words that are easily acceptable and avoid using harsh and hurtful words.
.
How do we constantly remind ourselves to be a noble person in our daily life? This week’s discussion will focus on “Progress Toward Enlightenment”. If you like this post, do share with your friends and invite them to participate in the discussion.
