一念恭敬,一念清靜。

人一生中總會歷經各種苦 (生、老、病、死、愛別離、怨憎會、求不得、五蘊熾,這八種苦),在世間無人能夠倖免,尤其是精神意識的苦,幾乎伴隨每個人的一生。所以,從苦中解脫,就成了人們畢生的追求目標。

也許是人間的痛苦哀嚎震撼了天地,2500多年前,釋迦牟尼佛降臨凡間,一出生便能行走七步,步步生蓮,一手指天、一手指地,並說出:「天上地上,唯我獨尊。」說完,天龍馬上吐水為其沐浴,漫天花雨為其慶賀。

佛陀深感人世間的種種苦楚,為廣度眾生,找到了一條脫離苦海的方法。

在佛陀聖誕這一天,沐浴佛身的真義是什麼呢?

【Bathing the Buddha Blessing Ceremony】 A moment of respect translates into a moment of peace

Every person goes through at least eight types of suffering in his or her lifetime – Suffering at birth, suffering in old age, suffering in sickness, suffering in death, suffering of separation from loved ones, suffering of being together with people one dislikes, suffering of not getting what one wants and the suffering of the five aggregates. No one can be spared from these eight sufferings. Mental and spiritual sufferings are especially prevalent as most people suffer from some form of that throughout their entire lives. Achieving liberation from suffering has hence become a lifetime pursuit for many people.

Drawn by the cries of the people, Sakyamuni Buddha was born into this world 2500 years ago. Immediately after birth, he took seven steps, with a lotus flower flowering at every step. With one hand pointed to the sky and the other hand to the earth, he proclaimed: “In heaven and earth, I am supreme.” At the conclusion of the proclamation, the celestial dragon showered divine water on Buddha and flower petals filled the air in celebration.

Buddha has deep empathy for the suffering of the people and searched for a method of liberation to free all sentient beings from suffering.

This true significance of bathing the Buddha on this sacred day is found in the following statement: “Buddha, with his infinite great compassion, has never given up on sentient beings. It is his hope that those of us who reside in the mortal world will be able to achieve a moment of peace and tranquility. From that moment, our minds will be cleansed, we will be rid of self-obsession, freed of troubles and we will attain true tranquility in the heart.”

With every ladle of pure water that you pour over the Buddha respectfully, you will wash away the dirt that has accumulated in your body and mind over the years, washing away troubles and diseases. May the Buddha’s compassionate light shine upon you and bring good fortune, auspiciousness, happiness and good health to you.

5月21日進入小滿節氣,隨著降水量增多,天氣開始變得潮濕悶熱,也代表著炎夏將至。這個時節裡,人體水分消耗增多,不僅要多喝水,還要多吃應季水果和蔬菜,補充維生素和微量元素。

按照傳統中醫養生理論,夏季宜養心,苦味入心經;加之天氣炎熱時人通常食欲不振,此時適當吃些苦味食物,比如苦瓜、萵筍、生菜、芹菜等,可以起到解熱去暑、幫助消化、增進食欲的功效。

釋迦牟尼佛為了讓眾生離苦得樂,傳授給我們最寶貴的方法:
就是「用大慈大悲的心去看待世界」。

為了讓自己能夠活得更好,還有我們未來的人生,包括子女的人生,都能夠活得幸福的話,去佈施、去關懷、去給予、去奉獻,得到就會是幸福的、愛的、快樂的、富有的。
.
其實真正的修行人,常會處於一種快樂、愉悅的境地中。一旦你能做到不管在哪裡,都覺得自在無礙;無論與誰交往,都覺得坦然舒心,這就是正確的修行成果。如果我們把修行定義在「修正念頭與行為」和「提升心靈層次」,那麼修行無疑的就是一種極高品味、極高格調的生活藝術和意境。

而「修行」是為了讓內心得到真正的安寧,以安祥的心做一個出發點,去享受心靈的喜樂,當所有的感官刺激都消退,你才會知道自己需要甚麼,就像潮水退去後,才能看見真相的岩石一樣。
內心要想得到極大的寧靜安詳,與長久深遠的喜樂,並非一蹴可躋,而是需要長時間的修行積累,以及心性提升,讓生活能夠得到當下的解脫,也就是「離苦得樂」了。

【A compassionate heart can eliminate many obstacles】 – Learn the method on how to end sufferings and gain happiness

Shakyamuni Buddha taught sentient beings the most precious way to end sufferings and achieve happiness.
It is “to view the world with great compassion and empathy”.

If we wish to lead a better life now for ourselves and our children as well as into the future, give generously, care and contribute to others. What we get in return will be happiness, love, bliss and wealth.

In fact, a real cultivator will often be in a state of happiness and bliss. Once you can reach a state of serenity and peace no matter where and with whom, you have indeed attained the right result through your cultivation. If we define spiritual practice as “correcting thoughts and actions” and “elevating the level of spirituality”, then spiritual practice is undoubtedly a very high quality and high-style art of life.

The purpose of “self-cultivation” is to cultivate a peaceful heart and use it as a starting point to experience the joy of spirituality. When all the sensory stimulation subsides, you will know what you need, just like the tide recedes to show the rock.

To get to great peace of mind and far-reaching joy, one needs long period of spiritual accumulation. It through this way can one elevate his spirituality and break free from present sufferings. That is, “free from sufferings and attain happiness”.

Now, let’s move towards the goal of happy meditating!

感謝網友提供!在5月13日韓國安山燃燈節(慶賀釋迦牟尼聖誕)慶祝活動上,菩提同修也走上街頭,和各佛教慈善組織一起參與活動。在發放菩提雜誌和光碟時,菩提同修偶遇兩個小沙彌,他們手中拿著「釋迦牟尼佛聖號」光碟時,歡喜、恭敬的樣子是不是超萌、超可愛?

明白大目標,就可以出發了!

有位禪師在遊訪名山時經過一個村子,因為口渴,跟負責打水車的村民要水喝,村民說:「禪師我真羨慕您,能過這種自由自在的生活,到處遊訪名山,哪天我若看破紅塵,也想跟您一樣!」禪師回:「嗯…那你哪時會看破紅塵?」村民回:「現在這個村子裡只有我會操作水車,等哪天有人來接我班,我就去修行!」禪師笑著說:「那你只能等來世來世的來來世再說吧!」
.
為何許多人做事總是無法成功,夢想和現實之間總是有大的距離!我曾邀請幾個同修弟子:「你現在就放下一切,和我一起去普度眾生吧!」但每個人的回答都是:「我先把孩子養大了吧,到時我再去幫人;我先把錢賺夠了,再去救濟人吧!」殊不知一有這樣的念頭,就會離目標越來越遠!
.
就好比你想去探望朋友,一旦確立一個大方向,就要馬上出發走出去就對了,不能說等我造好了車再去,等車造好了你也懶了;不能說我練好了身體再去,身體練好了你的目標可能也變了!
.
修行中最重要的,就是「覺醒」二字,此刻體悟,此刻就要有所行動。而「覺醒」就是從迷糊之中,在夢中醒悟過來!只要當下明白了,產生了信心,雖然這概念還是朦朦朧朧,但沒關係啊!佛不就是這一團朦朧的光芒嗎!就從這個朦朧的意念中,即刻起身、即刻成就!

最有效的良方

問:「師父,我小時候家裡比較窮,吃飯常有一頓沒一頓的;後來長大從事業務工作,作息時間不固定,也沒法定時吃飯。年輕還不覺得怎樣,如今年紀大了,身體的反撲就來了,現在我過了飯點沒吃飯就胃痛、喝杯咖啡也胃痛,有事沒事我的胃就造反,吃胃藥也只能稍微緩解,已經嚴重影響到我的退休生活了!師父,請問有沒有辦法徹底解決掉這個問題?」

我說:「其實你自己也知道,你的胃病是因為自己作息不正常造成的,要改善這個問題,最根本的解決之道,還是要從你的生活作息著手。要是你不調整自己的生活習慣,即使我拿仙丹給你吃,你的胃病復發也只是遲早的問題。」
.
問:「師父,我現在已經有努力調整作息啦!可還老犯胃病呀!」
我說:「這樣吧,我再教你幾個辦法。首先,你每天早上起床,啥都別做,先慢慢喝一杯溫開水,再開始其他活動;然後就是三餐最好正常吃,而且營養要均衡,少吃那些不好消化的,炸的、辣的最好都別吃,咖啡也少喝點;另外,吃完飯之後別坐在那裡看電視,但也別做激烈運動,站起來走一走,15分鐘到半小時就好了;最後,保持規律的運動習慣,如果不知道該做什麼運動,可以到禪堂,或者你家附近的八卦點,每天早上來走八卦,如果這些都做到了,我相信你的胃病肯定會慢慢改善的。」

這個同修聽了我的話之後,回去就照著我的話做,改善了自己作息與飲食習慣,早上也都會特別早起一個小時,到離他家最近的八卦點學習走八卦。就這樣,這位同修努力堅持了半年多,後來我再遇到他,再問起他的胃病,果然已經改善了很多,甚至好一陣子都沒再犯病了。

Question: “Master, when I was young, my family was poor and I had to go hungry from time to time; When I was older and started working, my hours were very irregular and I often had my meals at odd hours. Now that I am getting old, my body has started to protest, and I now suffer from gastric pain whenever I miss my meals. Sometimes my gastric would act up simply after a cup of coffee or even for no reason at all and medication only helps to alleviate the symptoms slightly. Master, this has severely affected my retirement life! Is there anything I can do to improve the situation?”

I replied: “You are well aware that your gastric woes are a result of your irregular mealtimes. If you want the situation to improve, you have to adjust your habits and your way of life. If you don’t make any permanent changes to your life, nothing will help you.”

Question: “But Master, I have already been diligently adjusting my habits, but my gastric still acts up frequently!”

I replied: “Let me teach you a methodology. First thing in the morning, drink a glass of warm water. Have your meals at regular hours and ensure that you have a balanced diet. Cut down on spicy or fried food which are difficult to digest and reduce your intake of coffee. In addition, refrain from sitting down immediately after meals, but do not exercise vigorously either. Walk or stroll for 15 to 30 minutes after your meals. Last but not least, form the habit to exercise regularly. If you are not sure what exercise to take up, visit the nearest Bodhi Meditation Center or the nearest Energy Bagua Point near your place and join the other practitioners in practicing Energy Bagua. Once you have done all these, you should see improvements in your gastric problem.”

Desperate to get better, he followed my advice – having his meals at regular hours and waking up an hour early every day to practice Energy Bagua nearest to his house. About half a year later, I ran into him again and asked about his gastric problem. True enough, his situation has improved tremendously and his gastric has not acted up in a long time.

靈岩寺

靈岩寺,位於中國山東省濟南市長清區的千年古刹,座落於泰山西北麓,為中國「四大名刹」之一。以其深厚的佛教文化底蘊,被收錄世界文化遺產名錄中。

靈岩寺始建於東晉(西元357年),至唐代達到鼎盛,至今有1600多年的歷史。這裡不僅有高聳入雲的辟支塔,還有宋代的彩色泥塑羅漢像等,唐玄奘也曾住在寺內翻譯經文。
.
主殿「千佛殿」,正殿供奉的是通體貼金的「三身佛」,殿內四壁上有上千尊木雕小佛,千佛殿也因此而得名,但殿中最值得觀看的還當屬圍坐著在四周的40尊泥塑羅漢,他們表情姿態各異、栩栩如生,被稱為「天下第一名塑」。

「辟支塔」,位於千佛殿西北,氣勢雄偉、造型美觀,為八角九層樓閣式磚塔,高55.7米。塔基為石築八角,上有浮雕,鐫刻有古印度孔雀王朝阿育王皈依佛門等故事。
