是什麼方法,讓健康變簡單了?

問:「在生命的加減法中,有沒有一種實實在在的方法,能夠使我們的疾病、痛苦越來越少,而健康、快樂的能量越來越多呢?」
.
答案是:「有的」。
在韓國禪堂,有一位女弟子,她患有嚴重的風濕性關節炎,發作時會疼痛到哭。一直治不好,在一個機緣下遇上菩提禪修。第一次見面,就碰上我們韓國最嚴格的老師,女弟子問:「怎麼修才可以讓我快一點不再痛苦?」

老師:「磕頭,做大禮拜,一天磕八個鐘頭。」這誰受得了啊?!可是她就接受了。

「精誠所至,金石為開。」她磕了半年,風濕性關節炎竟然真的好了。原來已經變形,不能抓東西的手,現在竟能幹活了,縫衣服都可以了。我去韓國時,還給我做韓國飯。 她告訴我:「我現在有了健康,快樂也更多了。」

所以,通過「禪修」通常會帶給人們健康。
那麼「禪修」是如何使我們的身體獲得健康,快樂的?

How can we attain good health easily?
.
Question: [In life’s formulas, is there any effective method to alleviate our illnesses, pain and sufferings while increasing our energy for good health and happiness?] .
Answer: [Yes] .
There was a female disciple from Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis. The pain was so bad that she would lose control and teared whenever the pain acted up. She tried all means to cure her illness but to no avail. On one rare occasion, she came to know about Bodhi Meditation. During her first visit to Bodhi, she met a teacher in Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who had a reputation of being strict. The female disciple asked: [What can I do to alleviate my body discomfort and pain?] .
Teacher: [Kow-tow, practice prostration eight hours each day.] This was not an easy task. However she abided by the teacher’s instruction and did as she was told.

As the Chinese saying goes: [Absolute sincerity can move even metals.] After half a year of prostration practice, she recovered completely. Previously she had problems holding things with her hands, now she can perform a lot of tasks, including sewing. When I was at Korea, she even prepared a Korean meal for me. She told me:[ I am very healthy and happy now.] .
At times, it is very hard to predict the benefits of meditation. However, generally one’s health will improve after meditation.

Is there a shortcut to eliminate karmic debt and avoid misfortunes before they befall?

Disharmonious family relations, challenges in careers, unfilial children, diseases and sicknesses – these are all consequences of bad karma accumulated through the ignorant and unenlightened actions of our ancestors and us. There is no way for us to neutralize all the wrongs that have been done in the past purely through just our own efforts, regardless of what we do.

So how can we clear the karmic debt that we have accumulated? We have mentioned in our practices before that the fastest way is: With the greatest sincerity, prostrate, make offerings and pray to Buddha, Bodhisattvas and all great practicing masters. Leverage on their infinite compassion to clear ours as well as our family’s karmic debts, so that we may attain health, wisdom and eventually be liberated in the shortest possible time.

The greater our sincerity and earnestness in praying to Buddha and Bodhisattvas, the stronger will be the effects, and that will help to clear all karmic misfortunes before they even occur to us.

我們都曾走過年輕,抵達終點卻是各自的千姿百態。
這位年輕有為的小弟子,透過禪修,從此讓他的生命更精采。

我的法名叫備帆,今年(2017年)16歲。 。
是一名在校高中生,最熱愛的體育運動是打冰上曲棍球。
2013年8月,我在媽媽的建議下,第一次參加了菩提禪修舉辦的夏令營活動。豐富有趣的課程讓我喜歡上了菩提禪修的夏令營活動。

2015年8月,是我第三次參加菩提禪修的夏令營。此次活動,作為組長的我收穫頗多,學會了主動關心他人,並站在對方的角度,凡事先為他人著想。之前的兩次夏令營,我在爬山時會嫌棄其他落後的隊友們,但是這次活動中,我多了一份責任感,不僅走在隊伍的最後,還會去鼓勵那些落在後面的隊員們。當大家最終一起攜手站在山頂,露出開心的笑容時,我的心中被無限的輕鬆和快樂充滿著,我真正地體會到了快樂的根本就是讓他人感到開心。

回到學校,我也主動嘗試著去幫助他人。在我的學校中,有一位比我低兩年級的同學,平時很少說話,被人誤以為是「呆子」,常常受到其他人的嘲笑和孤立。而我卻試著去和他聊天,在認識和瞭解的過程中,我發現他並不是別人認為的「呆子」。從此只要有機會,我就會和他在一起,漸漸地,他從過去不愛說話,逐漸變得活潑開朗;從過去被其他同學孤立,逐漸變得能夠和周圍的人和諧相處。我從心底裡為他感到高興!

2016年3月20日至27日,我又報名參加了菩提禪修的開智班課程,在學習的過程中,我愛上了「菩提開智功」。課程結束後,我依然堅持在家中修練。漸漸地,我發現自己在打冰上曲棍球時,反應速度更快了,比過去更加機敏、靈活,頭腦變得更加清晰、專注,我也因此而變得更有自信了。如今的我,仍會堅持修練「菩提開智功」,並且每晚還至少會做36個大禮拜。

學習禪修之後,我和媽媽也有了更多的共同話題。我認為,一個人來到這個世界上,就有責任去關愛、幫助他人。而我就想成為這樣的一個人,用關愛和幫助的心,為他人帶來幸福和快樂!

My Dharma name is Beifan, 16 years old of age (in year 2017).
I’m a high school student and my favorite sport is ice hockey.
In August 2013, I took my mother’s advice and participated in Bodhi Meditation’s Summer Camp for the first time. The comprehensive and stimulating programs during the summer camp were enjoyable and drew me to more activities from Bodhi Meditation.

In August 2015, I participated in Bodhi Meditation’s summer camp for the third time. In addition to the activities, I benefited tremendously by serving as a group leader. I have learned to take the initiative to care for others, to put myself in others’ shoes to understand their perspectives, and also to put others before self. During the prior two summer camps, I would shirk at team members who had lagged behind, such as in mountain-climbing. But this time, I felt a sense of responsibility to support the last team member and encourage those who had fallen behind. Eventually, as we surmounted the mountain and stood tall at its peak, hand-in-hand, with smiles all round, there was an overwhelming sense of relief and exhilaration. I genuinely appreciated that true happiness is derived from the joy that we bring to others.

Back in school, I started to take the initiative to help my friends. There was a schoolmate who was two grades my junior. Introverted, he was mistaken for a “nerd”, often subjected to ridicule and being ostracized. Nevertheless, I took the opportunity to chat with him. As I got to know and understand him better, I realized that he was not the “nerd” that others made him out to be. Whenever I had the chance, I would engage with him. Gradually, he began to open up and became more lively and cheerful, interacting harmoniously with his contemporaries. This was a departure from his isolated persona previously, and I was happy for him from the bottom of my heart!

I also registered and took part in a Bodhi Meditation Wisdom Awakening course, from March 20-27, 2016. In the process of learning, I was drawn to The Meditation of Awakening Wisdom. After the course, I continued to practice this meditation technique at home. Gradually, I found myself playing faster, becoming more agile and nimble, mentally sharper and more focused when playing ice hockey. As a result, my self-confidence increases. Till today, I conscientiously practice The Meditation of Awakening Wisdom and supplement this with at least 36 prostrations in the evenings.

After learning meditation, my mother and I have more topics in common. In my opinion, one’s mission in life is to care for and to help others. I want to be such a person, caring for and serving others, and bringing happiness and joy all around!

──改善文明病的最佳良方

久坐在辦公桌前的上班族,身體長期維持一個姿勢,肌肉時時處於繃緊的狀態。尤其是,長時間握著滑鼠或者寫字,手臂特別容易感到不舒服。還有髖關節,也就是大腿和臀部連接的部位,也容易因為久坐而呈現疲勞的狀態。當夏天來臨時,大家長時間坐在有風的空調屋裡,疲勞加上受風,時間久了,就很容易出現疼痛。

對於這種情況,解決的辦法有很多種,比如調整坐姿,每隔一段時間起來活動一下身體等等,都是很好的方式。除了這些以及前段時間提到的打滾放鬆法,還有一個方法——大禮拜。
.
大禮拜也是菩提禪修的主要修持方法之一。當我們在做大禮拜時,五體投地,全身貼到地面,我們的身體從手臂到整個脊柱就得到了舒展和放鬆,不僅骨骼得到了放鬆,還能夠疏通經絡,對於消除久坐產生的小肚腩也很有效,所以說上班族很適合做大禮拜。

德來:做大禮拜比做復健效果好太多了!

我的頸椎經電腦斷層確定第三椎跟第四椎已變形,醫生建議我不能再工作,要求做復健,否則當二節碰到一起,後果很嚴重。在經過復健一段時間後,效果並不明顯,改善很慢。
在念佛班第二天唱誦觀世音菩薩聖號時,我一個人靜靜地來到旁邊,真誠恭敬地做大禮拜。做完一小時後,渾身流汗,好舒服,站起來準備收工時,發現我的頸椎可以輕鬆的轉動了,好輕,沒有了以前的緊繃、僵直感,而且從手臂一直到指尖都是麻麻的。當下好興奮,回去後迫不及待跟太太講這個好消息,「做大禮拜比做複健效果好太多了,大禮拜太神奇了!」從那天起我只要一有空就做大禮拜,我的頸椎也沒有再出現以前的緊繃、僵直感。

Do you feel fatigued?
─ ─ the best ways to alleviate illnesses due to our way of life.
White-collar workers who sit in offices are used to maintaining the same posture for long periods of time. Their muscles and nervous system are constantly in a tight state. In particular, the arms tend to feel especially stiff or tense due to long hours of typing on the keyboard and holding a computer mouse. The hip area, together with the thighs and bum area, can also show signs of fatigue easily due to sitting in the same position for too long. During the hot summer, office workers may be sitting for long hours in air-conditioned rooms; joints are prone to arthritis pain as they are exposed to the cold air.
There are many solutions in such situations, such as moving the body or adjusting your sitting position from time to time. I have also mentioned previously about the “wallowing on the ground” (rolling on the ground) method. Other than these methods, there is another very effective way, that is, doing prostration.
Prostration is one of the main teachings in Bodhi Meditation. When we prostrate, our face and body is flat on the ground, stretched out and relaxed; the stretching is from our fingertips to our arms and the entire spine down to the toes.
When we prostrate, not only are our bodies relaxed, our meridians (acupuncture points) are cleared and this allows vital energy to flow through the body effectively. Prostration is also very effective at eliminating protruding belly fat arising from a sedentary lifestyle. Hence, it is very suitable for people who work in offices.

► A testimony from a prostration practitioner
De-lai : Doing prostration is way more effective than physical rehabilitation …
During a computer tomography, it was revealed that there was deformation in my third and fourth spinal vertebrae. The doctor recommended that I should not work and should go for rehabilitation. Otherwise, the consequences could be dire if the two vertebrae braced against each other. After a period of rehabilitation, the effect was still not obvious with very slow improvement.
On day two of the prostration class, while the music of Guanyin Bodhisattva was being played, I sincerely and respectfully did my prostration. After an hour of prostration, my body felt so comfortable and relaxed even though I perspired a lot. While I was standing up to do the closing exercise, I realized my spine could easily bend and was no longer as stiff and tight as before. I felt some numbness from the arm to the fingertips. I couldn’t conceal my excitement when I went back to tell my wife the good news:” Practicing prostration is indeed better than rehabilitation. The effect is amazing!”. From that day onwards, I practiced prostration as and when time permits. My spinal problems are now resolved, and my spine is no longer as stiff and tense as before.

大禮拜也是菩提禪修的主要修持方法之一。當我們在做大禮拜時,五體投地,全身貼到地面,我們的身體從手臂到整個脊柱就得到了舒展和放鬆,不僅骨骼得到了放鬆,還能夠疏通經絡,對於消除久坐產生的小肚腩也很有效,所以說上班族很適合做大禮拜。

德來:做大禮拜比做復健效果好太多了!

我的頸椎經電腦斷層確定第三椎跟第四椎已變形,醫生建議我不能再工作,要求做復健,否則當二節碰到一起,後果很嚴重。在經過復健一段時間後,效果並不明顯,改善很慢。
在念佛班第二天唱誦觀世音菩薩聖號時,我一個人靜靜地來到旁邊,真誠恭敬地做大禮拜。做完一小時後,渾身流汗,好舒服,站起來準備收工時,發現我的頸椎可以輕鬆的轉動了,好輕,沒有了以前的緊繃、僵直感,而且從手臂一直到指尖都是麻麻的。當下好興奮,回去後迫不及待跟太太講這個好消息,「做大禮拜比做複健效果好太多了,大禮拜太神奇了!」從那天起我只要一有空就做大禮拜,我的頸椎也沒有再出現以前的緊繃、僵直感。

Do you feel fatigued?
─ ─ the best ways to alleviate illnesses due to our way of life.
White-collar workers who sit in offices are used to maintaining the same posture for long periods of time. Their muscles and nervous system are constantly in a tight state. In particular, the arms tend to feel especially stiff or tense due to long hours of typing on the keyboard and holding a computer mouse. The hip area, together with the thighs and bum area, can also show signs of fatigue easily due to sitting in the same position for too long. During the hot summer, office workers may be sitting for long hours in air-conditioned rooms; joints are prone to arthritis pain as they are exposed to the cold air.
There are many solutions in such situations, such as moving the body or adjusting your sitting position from time to time. I have also mentioned previously about the “wallowing on the ground” (rolling on the ground) method. Other than these methods, there is another very effective way, that is, doing prostration.
Prostration is one of the main teachings in Bodhi Meditation. When we prostrate, our face and body is flat on the ground, stretched out and relaxed; the stretching is from our fingertips to our arms and the entire spine down to the toes.
When we prostrate, not only are our bodies relaxed, our meridians (acupuncture points) are cleared and this allows vital energy to flow through the body effectively. Prostration is also very effective at eliminating protruding belly fat arising from a sedentary lifestyle. Hence, it is very suitable for people who work in offices.

De-lai : Doing prostration is way more effective than physical rehabilitation …
During a computer tomography, it was revealed that there was deformation in my third and fourth spinal vertebrae. The doctor recommended that I should not work and should go for rehabilitation. Otherwise, the consequences could be dire if the two vertebrae braced against each other. After a period of rehabilitation, the effect was still not obvious with very slow improvement.
On day two of the prostration class, while the music of Guanyin Bodhisattva was being played, I sincerely and respectfully did my prostration. After an hour of prostration, my body felt so comfortable and relaxed even though I perspired a lot. While I was standing up to do the closing exercise, I realized my spine could easily bend and was no longer as stiff and tight as before. I felt some numbness from the arm to the fingertips. I couldn’t conceal my excitement when I went back to tell my wife the good news:” Practicing prostration is indeed better than rehabilitation. The effect is amazing!”. From that day onwards, I practiced prostration as and when time permits. My spinal problems are now resolved, and my spine is no longer as stiff and tense as before.

The secret to improving a child’s intelligence and focus

Every parent wants their child to be clever and perform well academically. Often, however, the child is either too playful to pay attention to learning or he studies really hard but is still not able to attain good grades. So how can we raise a child’s intelligence and focus?

Let the child do 12 prostrations conscientiously in front of Manjushri bodhisattva or the Buddha’s image every day. After a while, you will see the improvement in the child and his grades.

Today is Manjushri Bodhisattva’s birthday. Manjushri Bodhisattva is known for his wisdom and eloquence. Therefore, by praying to Manjushri Bodhisattva, you will receive his blessings to help you in your learning, memory, adaptability and other intelligence related capabilities.

During this period of Manjushri Bodhisattva’s birthday, your respectful offerings and generosity or any kind actions are extremely beneficial and meritorious.

Parents could also bring their children to the Meditation Centers to pay respect to the buddhas, asking the buddhas and bodhisattvas to protect and bless the children with wisdom. May all the children do well academically and be well and blissful.
