傳說在武林之中,有個「傻子」修練功夫,師父讓他每天到城牆邊的每塊磚上點一下。三年之後竟真的煉成了,從此這個人就以「大力金剛指」出了名,很多人都來跟他學。
.
他鄰居想:「從前他是個草包,是個笨蛋,小時候我把他打得鼻青臉腫的,沒有想到他竟能練出這個來,我一定要超過他。」於是鄰居就去拜「傻子」為師,問:「大力金剛指怎麼練啊?」
.
「傻子」說:「你每天也去點一下城牆磚,但是每個磚一天只能點一下。」
.
這人急著出功夫,每塊磚一天點10下,半年之後指頭竟然斷了?這個叫「拔苗助長」,原本想讓秧苗長快點,刻意去拔高它,沒想到一拔就斷掉了,不但秧苗死了,原先預計的收穫也都沒有了。
.
所以,修行的重點不在於快速,而在於堅持、恆心、真誠。唯有修到最宏觀的般若智慧的狀態,把小我、私心的我放下,讓大家更好,才能達到最高佛陀的境界──把小我變成大我。
.

Newly released : Learn About the Six Perfections – Part 2
.
How do we attain the highest level of the Six Perfections: “Generosity, discipline, tolerance, diligence, meditation and wisdom”? How do we truly gain happiness and auspiciousness?
.
According to legend, there was once a “fool” who practiced martial arts. His master instructed him to use his finger to touch every brick of the city wall. He did that diligently for three years and attained mastery. He became well-known for his finger’s enormous strength and many people came to learn from him.
.
His neighbor thought to himself, “He was once a fool. I used to win him in fights when we were young. Who would have guessed that he became so strong today? I must be better than him.” Thus, his neighbor became his disciple and asked him, “How did you manage to train your finger to be so powerful?”
.
The “fool” replied, “You need to touch every brick of the city wall daily. But remember, only one touch per brick.”
.
This neighbor was eager for result. Instead of touching every brick once, he touched each brick ten times. Half a year later, his finger broke. There is a Chinese saying: trying to help the shoots grow by pulling them upward. The original intention was to let the seedlings grow fast for fast harvest. However, the deliberate pulling of the seedlings caused the shoots to die instead.
Similarly, the essence of self-cultivation is not speed but perseverance and sincerity. Only when we attain the highest state of wisdom, letting go of ego and selfishness moving towards altruism, can we reach the spiritual realm of Buddhahood – a transformation of selfishness to selflessness.
.

Answer: “Six perfections are generosity, discipline, tolerance, diligence, meditation and wisdom.”

Six perfections can purify our body and mind so that we are free from obstacles!
Six perfections can clear our mind and achieve perfect wisdom!
Six perfections can free us from the entanglements of greed, illnesses, sufferings and pain, leading us to a bright future!
Six perfections can bless our descendants with auspiciousness, wisdom, prosperity and a smooth sailing life!
People who practice six perfections will be rewarded with positive merits and good fortunes. Such is the blessing of Buddha.

「善良」能帶給我們什麼益處?

幾個月前,我曾看過一則新聞:2017年10月14日,中國江西省資溪,一個初三學生跳入河中,成功救起2名落水兒童,隔天,他和其他3位幫忙的人,就收到被救家屬高達萬元的酬謝金,但是,當他們知道被救的其中一個孩子家庭很困難,他們轉手就將萬元獎金,給了這個孩子家裡。
.
也許有人會疑問:「他們為什麼要這麼做啊?現在好人難當啊,萬一被誤會了怎麼辦?」
.
其實,每個人的心中都懷有「善良之心」,當看見有人陷溺於危險之中,刹那間慈悲心生起,無私地去幫助他人的行為,就是「無我」,這也是「慈悲心」的體現,你將會得到很多人的感激和敬重。
.
因此,學習做一個最善良、最慈悲的人,沒有分別、計較的去幫助他人,這份功德能量的積累,能讓我們也常得貴人幫助,獲得福錄智慧,乃至永恆的幸福快樂。
.
那麼「無私」的幫助他人的行為,為什麼可以讓我們迅速離苦得樂呢?

必需與貪執

是需要還是想要?
『需要』是生命的必需;『想要』是來自於一種慾望,是『貪執』。

比如說:當你肚子餓了吃飯是『需要』,你選擇了吃炸雞是『想要』。
你買衣服是『需要』,但是衣櫃裡的衣服,已經多到幾個星期都穿不完,你說還是缺少一件花衣服的,這是『想要』是『貪執』。

人的『必需』是有限的,而『想要』則可以無窮盡。
當『想要』總是超過『需要』,你把時間和精神全投資在『想要』的事物(貪執)上,又哪來多餘的精力去滿足真正的『需要』(身體健康)呢?
.

Necessity and greed
.
What is “need” and “want”?
“Need” refers to the necessity of life; “want” comes from desire, and is “greed”.
For example: To eat when you are hungry is to fulfill a “need”, if you choose to eat fried chicken, that becomes a “want”. Buying clothes is a “need”, but if you complain you lack certain designs despite your wardrobe being packed with clothes that outlast more than a few weeks, this is a “want”; a form of “greed.”
.
Man’s “necessities” are limited, yet our “wants” can be without limits.
When our “wants” are always exceeding our “needs”, we invest significant time and energy resources in material “wants” 「due to greed obsession」, how then do we summon extra energy to meet our real “needs” 「that is health」?
.

是什麼方法,讓健康變簡單了?

問:「在生命的加減法中,有沒有一種實實在在的方法,能夠使我們的疾病、痛苦越來越少,而健康、快樂的能量越來越多呢?」
.
答案是:「有的」。
在韓國禪堂,有一位女弟子,她患有嚴重的風濕性關節炎,發作時會疼痛到哭。一直治不好,在一個機緣下遇上菩提禪修。第一次見面,就碰上我們韓國最嚴格的老師,女弟子問:「怎麼修才可以讓我快一點不再痛苦?」

老師:「磕頭,做大禮拜,一天磕八個鐘頭。」這誰受得了啊?!可是她就接受了。

「精誠所至,金石為開。」她磕了半年,風濕性關節炎竟然真的好了。原來已經變形,不能抓東西的手,現在竟能幹活了,縫衣服都可以了。我去韓國時,還給我做韓國飯。 她告訴我:「我現在有了健康,快樂也更多了。」

所以,通過「禪修」通常會帶給人們健康。
那麼「禪修」是如何使我們的身體獲得健康,快樂的?

How can we attain good health easily?
.
Question: [In life’s formulas, is there any effective method to alleviate our illnesses, pain and sufferings while increasing our energy for good health and happiness?] .
Answer: [Yes] .
There was a female disciple from Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis. The pain was so bad that she would lose control and teared whenever the pain acted up. She tried all means to cure her illness but to no avail. On one rare occasion, she came to know about Bodhi Meditation. During her first visit to Bodhi, she met a teacher in Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who had a reputation of being strict. The female disciple asked: [What can I do to alleviate my body discomfort and pain?] .
Teacher: [Kow-tow, practice prostration eight hours each day.] This was not an easy task. However she abided by the teacher’s instruction and did as she was told.
.
As the Chinese saying goes: [Absolute sincerity can move even metals.] After half a year of prostration practice, she recovered completely. Previously she had problems holding things with her hands, now she can perform a lot of tasks, including sewing. When I was at Korea, she even prepared a Korean meal for me. She told me:[ I am very healthy and happy now.] .
At times, it is very hard to predict the benefits of meditation. However, generally one’s health will improve after meditation.
.

好人緣是有方法的,婆媳問題也有解藥!

一個女同修的真實故事,她和公婆長達17年不相往來,在禪修之後,竟然莫名和公公婆婆和好了,成為街坊鄰里間的一段美談。
.
她說:「最早,我和公婆住在一起,但是因為婆婆太霸道、太自私,不管我做什麼,婆婆都要求我必須聽從她,否則就大發雷霆,也不讓我和鄰居來往。我無法接受這樣的生活,更不想每天和婆婆為家庭瑣事吵架。婆婆還經常趕我走、不走就把我的東西往門外扔。我在走投無路之下就搬回娘家住了,這一住就是17年。」
.
在她還沒禪修之前,她覺得婆婆太狠毒了,自己受到的傷害太深,每當提到婆婆兩字,就覺得身體發冷、發抖,即使在大熱天也是這樣。17年過去了,她和孩子再也沒去過婆家一次,不敢提、更不敢去看她。
.
可後來參加了菩提禪修之後,她開始懂得了「慈悲、善良」,心胸變開闊了、也學會了寬容,不再記恨老人家了。她上婆婆家,去向公公婆婆懺悔道歉,婆媳間17年的積怨終於化解開了,村裡的鄰里鄉親也都感動不已。
.
人際關係不良的原因,很多都是由「不自信和不信任」所引起的,導致心理上產生焦慮,甚至恐慌等,各種傷害對方,或攻擊對方的行為。如果內心變得光明,自信充足,自然也就沒有恐懼了。
.
那麼,到底該如何克服,每個人心中的那塊黑色地帶,使自己的心性光明起來,從而改善人際關係呢?
.

A true story of a female practitioner, she and her in-laws were not in contact for 17 years. After she started meditation, she miraculously mended her relationship with them and this became a much-talked-about topic among neighbors.
.
She said, “I stayed with my in-laws initially, but my mother-in-law was over bearing and too selfish. She wanted me to listen to her. If I don’t, she would act up and refuse to let me interact with my neighbors. I can’t accept this kind of life and I don’t want to quarrel with her on family trivial every day. There were times that she threw my things out of the house and wanted me to go. I couldn’t stand it anymore so I moved back to live with my mother and 17 years passed.
.
Before she started meditation, she felt that her mother-law was too vicious and hurt her deeply. Whenever someone mentioned her mother-in-law, she would have cold shivers, even on a hot day. She and her children did not visit her in-laws for 17 years.
.
However, through meditation, she began to understand “compassion and kindness”. Her heart opens up and she becomes more tolerant and forgiving. She went to her in-laws’ house to apologize and seek forgiveness. 17 years of accumulated resentment finally resolved and neighbors were happy for them too.
.
A lack of self-confidence and trust causes poor human relationship and psychological anxiety. Such fear and panic may lead to reactive harmful actions. If the inner heart is bright and fills with confidence, there will be no fear.
.
So how do we overcome that dark spot so that we can shine brightly and improve our relationship with others?
.

如何化解一切煩惱和疾病?

慈悲心引領著我們,讓我們的心變得無比寬廣,就像大海,無論多麼髒的水,大海都能接受,這種巨大的包容,就是「佛」的大慈悲心。
.
很多的疾病,都是來自於我們的心、我們的意識、我們的判斷,只有非常寬廣的心才不會受傷。比如說同樣被罵了一句:「你笨得簡直像豬一樣」,有的人聽了之後想:「豬也挺可愛的?」微微一笑,轉個身就忘了;有的人聽了,馬上暴跳如雷,拔刀相向。
.
所以我們用「大慈大悲」的心、寬容的心,包容一切,哪怕一開始是虛假的,但若能常常這樣想,也能戰勝煩惱,把煩惱消化了。沒有煩惱就不會有疾病,很多腫瘤就是來自於煩惱。很多女性乳房裡面的腫瘤,是因為生氣,和欲望滿足不了所造成的。腫瘤其實是憋在你的心裡頭,而長在外面的肉。心如大海才能無憂無慮,才能化解一切的痛苦、一切的疾病。打開長壽之門的閥門,一切疾病就會消失。
.
因此,「慈悲心」再加一點「修行和功德」,我們每天就會活得健康快樂自在。
.

How to overcome troubling thoughts and illnesses?
.
Guided by compassion, our heart broadens to become more magnanimous, just like the sea. Regardless of how dirty the water is, the sea will never stop water from flowing into it. This acceptance and tolerance is similar to Buddha’s great compassion.
.
A lot of illnesses stem from one’s heart, subconscious mind and judgement. A person of compassion will not get hurt easily. For instance, if one is being scolded: “You are as stupid as a pig”, some may think: “Pigs are actually very adorable animals”. With a smile, these people turn around and forget about the incident. On the contrary, some may become furious and even get into a fight.
.
We must use a compassionate and magnanimous heart to tolerate and accept everything. Even though we may not really be compassionate to start with, we can overcome mental obstacles and troubles if we always harbour kind thoughts. When we are free from worries, we will not fall sick. Most of our body’s tumors stem from worries and troubling thoughts.
.
Anger and greed are the greatest causes of tumors in women’s breast. Tumors are actually external growth that result from oppressed emotions. One will only be free from troubling thoughts, sufferings and illnesses when one’s heart is broad and open. Once the door of longevity is opened, all illnesses will disappear.
.
Therefore (compassion) coupled with (Self-cultivation and positive karmic merits) will enable us to lead a healthy, peaceful and happy life.
.
Today let us discuss in (Guide to Meditation )- Part 3 how we can trigger and open the door to happiness and good health.
.
May all gain compassion, health, auspiciousness and happiness!

【如何學會歡喜接受】

所謂:「良藥苦口利於病,忠言逆耳利於行」。
.
「人」都喜歡聽好聽的話,吃好吃的東西,一但聽到有人說你的不是或缺點,就會火冒三丈,恨不得把對方給狠揍一頓,所以大家見了你,只好說說客套話,好聽的話,恭維你一番。因此,人們就再也聽不到真實的話語了。當你看不見自己,究竟會給自己帶來什麼結果呢,我來給大家說個真實的故事吧!
.
戰國時代有個有名的神醫,叫 扁鵲。
有一天,扁鵲去見蔡桓公,說:「王啊,您的皮膚有點小毛病,求桓公讓我給您醫治吧。」
桓侯不悅的說:「我沒有病,你請回吧。」
扁鵲走後,桓公說:「大夫(醫生)總是喜歡給沒病的人治病,以此做為自己的功勞!」
.
過了十天,扁鵲對桓公說:「您的病已經到了肌肉裡,不醫治的話,會更加嚴重下去。」桓公一樣不予理睬。再過了十天,扁鵲見桓公,仍警告地說:「您的病已經到了腸胃,王怎麼就是不信呢?」說完扁鵲嘆口氣踱步離去,桓公還是不理。
.
再過了十天,扁鵲遠遠望見桓公,竟突然拔腿就跑。
扁鵲說:「現在桓公的病已深入骨髓裡,我也無能為力了,為了避免被殺頭我只好逃跑。」
沒多久,桓公果真開始渾身疼痛,派人去尋扁鵲,卻已遍尋不著,扁鵲已經逃到秦國去了。
桓公因為病入膏肓,也就死去了。
.
所以,我們對待逆耳的、打擊的話語和行為,要學會歡喜接受、更需要正向思考。好多逆耳的話,對我們本身就是一種幫助,學習勇敢面對問題,才有機會解決問題。
.

(Learn to accept graciously and happily)
.
As a popular Chinese saying goes: (A bitter medicine cures the disease. Honest advices may be unpleasant for the ears but they are beneficial to our general well-being.)
.
Humans love to listen to nice words and eat tasty food. The moment they hear honest opinions about their flaws, they get angry and may even have the urge to beat the other person up. As a result when people see you, they will only say pleasantries and words that flatter you. You will no longer be able to hear sincere and honest words. When you cannot see yourself clearly, what will be the outcome? Let me share a story!
.
During warring states period, there was a highly skilled doctor. His name was Bianque.
One day, Bianque went to see Cai Huangong and said: “Your majesty, you have some minor skin diseases, please allow me to treat you.”
Huangong said in displeasure: “I am not ill, please leave.”
After Bianque left, Huangong said to himself: “Doctors like to treat people who are not ill so as to gain credits for themselves!”
.
After ten days, Bianque told Huangong: “Your illness had spread to your muscles. If you do not seek for treatment, it will get worse.”
Again, Huangong ignored Bianque’s words. After another ten days, Bianque continued to warn Huangong when he saw him: “Your illness had spread to your stomach, why do you not trust me, your Majesty?” With these words, Bianque sighed and walked away. Huangong continued to remain indifferent to Bianque’s words.

Ten days later, the moment Bianque spotted Huangong from a distance, he immediately started running. Bianque said: “Huangong’s illness had spread to his bone marrow, there is nothing I can do to cure him now. To avoid being beheaded, I can only flee.”
.
Not long after, Huangong started to feel aching in his whole body. He sent his guards to look for Bianque but failed to locate hm. Bianque had run to neighboring Qin country to hide. As Huangong was beyond cure, he eventually passed on.
.
Hence when we hear words that are unpleasant to our ears, we must learn to accept graciously and contemplate whether there is truth in them. Sincere, honest advices are beneficial to us and we must learn to face our problems bravely. Only then would we be able to resolve them.
.
Today let us discuss in Guide to Meditation- Part 3 how we can learn to accept happily and graciously. Only then would we be able to rectify and correct our problems. We will only gain happiness when we are compassionate and brings happiness to people around us.

【好風水在於人心】

有這樣一個故事:

上古時期,有一位叫「舜」的帝王,在他做帝王以前,便以仁德、善良和能力著稱。當時的帝王「堯」為了考驗他,將他一個人放入森林中,要他半年內走出來。那個時候,森林遼闊,猛獸繁多,別說他一個人,就是一隊人馬都不一定能夠走出森林,何況「舜」手無寸鐵、身無餘糧。
.
結果,不出三個月「舜」就返回來了,一問之下才明白,竟是森林之王_獅子把他給馱回來的、還跟回了一群鹿馬牛羊。可見「舜」的大仁大愛,能與自然、與天地萬物相通;善的磁場吸引無數的生命聚集。種種的奇跡,使得「堯」對「舜」非常地滿意,就將自己的兩個女兒許配給「舜」為妻,並將王位傳給了「舜」。
.
「最大的風水是人心,最好的風水是慈悲!」
.
所以,如果你的心地善良,你居住的環境縱然是非常惡劣,幾年之後,這個地方也會變成風水寶地的,為什麼呢?因為你的善心把那個風水轉過來了。
.
還有,現在很多人都喜歡請風水師,來幫忙改運、改風水,其實一般的風水調整,並不能使人們的運氣、命運得到根本上的改變;只有行善、慈悲的能量與功德,才能使一個人獲得吉祥。
.
今天就讓我們一起來聊聊《禪修指導》(中),探討如何通過「禪修」
學習「行善」和「慈悲」,去改變風水、迎來好命運。

The essence of good fengshui lies within one’s heart
.
There is such a story:
During ancient times, there was an emperor named Shun. Before he became an emperor, he was known for his virtue, kindness and capability. To test his capability, the emperor then, Yao, ordered Shun to make his way independently out of a jungle within half a year.
.
At that time, jungles were known to be dangerous since they were filled with ferocious animals. Not to mention that Shun had the arduous task to make his way out of the jungle alone. Even an entire team of people may not be able to make their way out of the jungle alive. Moreover, Shun had no weapon to fend for himself. Neither did he have any food with him.
.
Unexpectedly, Shun managed to make his way out of the jungle unscathed within three months. In fact, he was escorted by a lion, the king of the forest and came out together with a group of deers, horses, goats and cows. Shun’s universal love managed to communicate with nature and the Universe.
.
His aura of kindness attracted and brought countless beings together. Yao was satisfied with Shun’s miraculous achievements and decided to marry two of his daughters to Shun and made him his successor.
.
(The greatest fengshui lies within one’s heart, in the form of compassion!)
.
Therefore if you are kind-hearted, your kindness can transform even the most difficult situation into a geomantic treasured site within a few years.
.
Nowadays a lot of people like to engage fengshui master to transform life destiny through fengshui enhancements. In reality, enhancements to fengshui cannot change life’s fundamentals by way of better luck and life destiny. A person can become more auspicious only through accumulating karmic merits by performing charitable deeds and exuding compassionate energy.

Today, let us discuss in (Guide to Meditation)- Part 2 how we can learn to be more compassionate and kind in our daily lives through meditation so as to change our fengshui and welcome better life destiny.

「Health」 can be easily attainable
.
Once there was an American billionaire. He owned one third of the land in the area in which he lived and was known as the richest man there. He lived to an age of 76 years. Before he passed on, he said angrily: “I want to live a longer life; whoever can extend my life by one more year, I will give him one million dollars! I have accumulated so much wealth in this life and I hope to enjoy for a longer time.” However, in the end, no one could help him and no doctor could extend his life span.
Hence, even if you have a lot of money, Chinese physicians and western doctors still cannot help to resolve a lot of health issues.
