The eyes of animals are their windows to the world. It is also their special ‘radar’ for hunting, searching for mate and avoiding enemies.

There are millions of animals in the world and many have very good eyesight which they can discern the mysterious outer world with super visual ability. For example, dogs have better night vision than humans. Based on a research done at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the dog’s night vision is five times better than humans while cat’s night vision is six times better.

But dogs slightly edge over cats because the dogs can see well both during day and night. When I was living on the grasslands, I often encounter Mongolian gazelle (a kind of wild sheep), deer, wild dog, wolf and all kinds of leopards. They possess very strong night vision ability and can see very clearly at night. So, in comparison, humans can only see a small fraction of what these animals can see, both in range and depth of details.

However, what differentiate between humans and animals is that humans have “intelligence” and “thinking capability”, which is the super radar of humans to the outside world. But this part is mainly through observation. So how can humans use this special ability to extend and expand beyond their horizon? How can humans open up their radar within and gain access to wisdom and the vision of the heart and mind?

Let’s explore this topic “Vision of the Heart and Mind” during this weekend’s group practice!
Welcome everyone to talk about it.
Wishing all wisdom, auspiciousness and peace!

The lock of deep darkness can be opened by the radiance of sunlight
.
Once, I helped a fellow practitioner view his home. He commented that his house has a good location, with reasonable layout, but for some reason, the people who stayed in it tend to be depressed and feel melancholic. They also experienced poor luck, and are prone to accidents both big and small. So he came to me for help.
.
As soon as I entered the compound, I felt that the natural lighting in it was very poor, largely because the owner liked to use strong colors for curtains. I also noticed the curtain fabric was thick and did not allow light to filter in. Even in the daytime, he had to switch on the lights and yet he felt that this was beautiful. As for me, I had just entered for only a few minutes, yet the air was stuffy and I felt suffocated.
.
Without another word, with several swipes, I yanked all the beautiful curtain linens to the sides to let the sun shine in.
I said, “Look, do you feel that the whole mood is different?”
.
The room suddenly became bright. As the sun leaped out of the horizon in the morning, the bright light flooded into the house from the window; onto the sofa, tea table, and desk; the noon sun dipped in through the southwest windows, highlighting the interior walls and the floors; in the evening, a beautiful glow from the westerly windows eased in, painting the house in a resplendent golden hue. Even in unwelcomed rainy days, the light in the house remained acceptable, for you can gaze out of the windows into the misty, distant mountains – such beautiful scenery.
.
He appeared to gain some insights, and remarked, “I didn’t know that just by opening some windows, the brooding feeling of the house in the past could be transformed from that of a dark forest, into a sunny, clear green grassland”.
.
So, regardless of the living environment or the psychological perception, it is the same – to enjoy auspiciousness and smooth tidings, you must allow the sun to shine in by opening the window to our hearts to welcome the sun. You will then realize that the world is vibrant and most colorful.
