一位大慈大悲的成就者，為什麼手裡端著一個人腦殼呢？
.
蓮花生大士手裡端的叫「骷髏盅」，說白了就是「人腦殼碗」。不懂的人看到後會覺得：這太可怕了！甚至會懷疑蓮花生大士究竟是慈悲還是不慈悲？!
.
其實，這個「腦殼碗」別有寓意，它代表的不是邪惡、殺戮，而是慈悲和覺悟。這是怎麼一回事呢？這是因為，人類往往會受五蘊熾盛（色、受、想、行、識）和貪嗔癡慢疑的影響，而做一些無知的錯事、壞事，這個腦殼碗就好比是人類的惡，而裡面裝的是慈悲和覺悟的精華，意為蓮花生大士要把慈悲和覺悟奉獻給眾生，讓眾生都能夠慈悲、智慧、大徹大悟。

同理，蓮花生大士身後的長矛上戳著的「人頭」，代表著人道、惡鬼道，甚至魔道等欲界眾生，戳著這些「頭」，是想把一切阻礙眾生覺悟的煩惱、障礙打穿，讓眾生能夠通達無礙、智慧無邊、立刻覺悟、即身成就。

在藏傳佛教之中，不論是否有來世，人們都希望能在今世就覺悟成就。蓮花生大士的意念就是：「希望一切跟我學法的眾生，都能夠在今世突破一切障礙，即身成就、即身成佛。」

In other words, the greater your bodhicitta, the bigger will be your accomplishment!

Perhaps every successful person has a different path to success, but they do have some things in common: they have the courage to dream, to work on their dream, and they have unwavering confidence and perseverance.

The aspiration of an instant decides what fruits of success a person will enjoy in his or her lifetime.
.

“Afflictions Motivate Cultivation” – – from What Is Buddha
.
There is a folk fairy tale in China known as《The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea》. In it, one of the immortals is known as Iron Crutch Li, whose image is that of a deity relying on an iron crutch for support. He personifies someone who, despite being physically handicapped in some aspect, can yet transcend and achieve wisdom and acumen with a sincere heart. His spiritual cultivation was never daunted by his predicament or worries.
.
Perhaps, it is the disease, including the pain, suffering, and worries that motivate us to strive harder in our spiritual cultivation journey.
Thus, all the suffering may be the motivation behind our transcendence – achievement of great wisdom and liberation?
