一聲佛號,萬兩黃金。

我們的祖先,包括我們自己,過去所做過的一切錯事都是會遺傳下來的,並且一代代地傳下去。從長相、健康程度、走路姿勢、個性,還有「業」,也就是功和過的行為產生的作用力,還會一代一代地遺傳下來。
.
因為我們的祖先所犯的錯誤、對其他生命造成的傷害,形成了這個業,使我們不安。不管我們有沒有認識到這個問題,事實上都會令我們不安。不安的表現有哪些呢?第一個就是疾病;第二個就是人生障礙,比如說婚姻不順、買房不順、找工作不順利、家庭不和睦、子女不成器……做了不同的惡事,在身體上來說,會有不同的疾病表現。

所以,祖宗安寧、祥和、自在,作為他遺傳的後代,我們才會平安、吉祥、自在。
.
現在,讓我們一起為祖先念念佛吧!
在即將到來的「觀音菩薩聖誕」暨「清明節」_懷思感恩的日子裡。 給他們送去一份真誠的祝福吧!

藉著佛慈悲、溫暖的能量,給予祖先們光明的指引。

Each chant of Buddha’s name is worth a ton of gold

All the wrong deeds that our ancestors, including ourselves, have done in the past will be passed on from generation to generation. Thus we inherit looks, health, walking posture, personality and “karmic actions” from our ancestors and this will continue to future generations.

Because of the mistakes our ancestors made and the damage they inflicted on other lives, our lives are also affected by these karmic actions. Regardless of whether we realize the problem or not, it will make us uneasy and manifest in the form of illnesses and life’s obstacles such as rocky marriage, difficulty in buying property, bumpy career, family disharmony and problematic children. Different negative karmic actions will manifest as different disease.
Therefore, only when the ancestors have peace, harmony and freedom will the descendants be able to enjoy peace and auspiciousness.

Now, let’s chant on behalf of our ancestors!
As the Guanyin Bodhisattva’s birthday and Qingming Festival approaches, it is also a time for us to commemorate our ancestors and express our gratitude. Let us send them our sincere blessing!
May the compassionate light of Buddha and Bodhisattvas shine onto the path of our ancestors!
A chant of Buddha’s name is worth a ton of gold. This is the most precious gift we can give to our ancestors.

讓生命更加光彩的秘訣!

我在網上看到過一些大公司去做推銷、談判的時候會專門對員工進行訓練。
怎麼訓練呢?除了穿著、語言和準備相關資料外,關鍵要做好一個心理準備。這個心理準備就是說:「我是最陽光的、我是最正面的、我是最智慧的……。」要這樣做一個自我提醒與精神鼓舞。所以這些人一旦見到客戶需要聊天的時候,就能展現出非常陽光、熱情、自在、大方的形象,就是因為他在內心,已經做好了一個心理的準備。

所以,我也推薦大家可以這麼練習——自我提醒、自我暗示,最後才可能變成自我解脫。
.
自我提醒的方法特別多,就是將這些勵志的語言、提醒自己的語言,貼在女士提的小包包、鏡子上、或者辦公桌上,這樣就能時時提醒自己或者自我勉勵——
「我的歌聲最好聽、我長得最漂亮、我長得最帥、我是天才」等。這種自我提醒、自我勉勵,有時可以幫助我們把一些心理壓力排出去,讓身心達到輕鬆快樂。

The secret of making life more amazing!

I have seen on the Internet that some large companies would invest in training their employees in areas like sales and negotiations so that they can do their job well. So how do they train? Apart from focusing on their dressing, speech and having proper background knowledge, another key aspect of the training is psychological preparation. That is a self-reminder with positive affirmations, “I am like the sunshine. I am most positive, I am the wisest…” Hence, when these people meet their customers, they will exert a positive, warm and pleasant persona to their clients. This is possible because they are well-prepared.
.
So, I like to recommend that you practice self-affirmation in order to gain eventual freedom.
.
There are many ways of self-reminder. It may be through sticking a reminder note on handbags, mirrors, or office tables.
.
We can tell ourselves regularly that “I can sing most beautifully, I am most beautiful, I am most handsome, and I am a genius”. Such self-affirmations may also help us release our pent-up stress and make us happier.
.
Let us discuss in greater depth how we can transform our lives for the better through constant self-reminders and encouragement.

八風吹不動,穩坐紫金蓮?

宋朝大學士蘇東坡是中國文學史上享有盛名的一位大文豪,然而仕途坎坷,為官時一貶再貶。當他被貶到江北瓜州時,和僅一江之隔的高僧佛印宗師,交情甚篤。
.
有一天,蘇東坡坐禪完感受不錯,覺得自己身上都泛著金光,就拿筆寫了一首五言詩偈「稽首天中天,毫光照大千;八風吹不動,穩坐紫金蓮。」東坡再三吟詠,洋洋得意。就找人送去給佛印宗師分享。

誰知佛印宗師卻淡淡的回了一句:「狗屁!」
.
東坡一看:「哇可惡,你竟然還罵我。」馬上撐個小船過江去找佛印宗師討公道。
.
蘇東坡趕上廬山歸宗寺,氣呼呼地要找佛印宗師算帳,那知宗師早已吩咐客堂的知客師說:今天不見客。蘇東坡聽了,火上加油!乾脆直衝佛印的方丈室來,看到方丈室的門半掩著,他正要舉手敲門,卻看到門上貼著一張字條,上頭寫著:「八風吹不動,一屁打過江。」

東坡看到立刻深感慚愧不已,原來自己修禪的工夫、火候還差佛印宗師很遠。
.
其實禪修無非就是在修「定力」,如果沒有「定力」就沒有穩定的心性,很難成就什麼事情。
.

Sit firm on golden lotus and unmoved by wind from eight directions?

Su Dongpo was a great scholar and renowned literature writer of the Song Dynasty. But his career was bumpy with many ups and downs. During his demotion to Jianbei, Guazhou, he became a good friend to a Buddhist monk whose temple was just across the river from where he was based.
One day, Su Dongpo experienced good feeling after his meditation. He immediately penned down a poem as he felt his body was emitting golden light. He wrote: “Like an awaken one, unmoved by wind from eight directions, sit firmly on a golden lotus and emit brilliant rays from the sky.”
He felt pleased with his masterpiece and sent it to the Buddhist monk for his comment.

Unexpectedly, he received a faint note “Nonsense!” from the monk.

He was furious and immediately rowed a boat across the river to confront the monk.

When he arrived at the temple, he was told not to disturb the monk as the monk had given prior instruction to be left alone. Su Dongpo became more agitated and decided to barge directly into the abbot’s room. When he approached the room and was about to knock the door, he spotted a note on the door. It said – “Unmoved by wind from eight directions but a “nonsense” is enough for you to charged across the river”.

Su Dongpo immediately understood and felt deeply ashamed. His meditation skill and spirituality pale in comparison with the monk.

Meditation is a form of cultivation to develop fortitude. Without such unmoved mental strength, we will not be firm and we will not accomplish much in life.

Today, we shall learn about “The Six Perfections – Part 1”. Let’s explore how we can nurture our fortitude.

有許多家長憂心忡忡地來問我:「孩子沉迷上網,真是讓我傷透腦筋,請問師父我該怎麼辦?」

我說,首先要恭喜你,孩子能上網就說明智力基本正常,能到網上和人對打遊戲,就說明智力偏高;能在網上修改圖片,把媽媽修的跟天仙一樣美,這叫境界!「電腦」是現代人謀生的工具,孩子如果沒有具備基本的電腦技能,將來是找不到工作的!

所以,當我們家長在分析事情上,要學會看到「好的一面」,只要提醒孩子不要玩太久。並且給予孩子正確的引導,那麼,原本可能造成親子間感情破裂的傷害,就會變成彼此聊天的話題了。

Many worried parents approached me, “I am worried about my child’s addiction to Internet. What should I do?”

My response, “First of all, I like to congratulate you. The fact that your child can surf the Internet means that his intelligence is basically normal. Those who can play online computer games generally have higher intelligence. For those who can modify pictures to make their mother look young are even more intelligent!”
Computers are now the tools of modern life. Your child will not be able to find a job if he does not have basic computer skills!

怎樣讓自己變得更有靈性?

中國有一個神話故事是這樣的:
一次大戰,有一位「黃帝」,他和南方的大首領(蚩尤)打仗的時候,各自帶了很多人馬。(蚩尤)布下了百里大霧,「黃帝」的軍隊被籠罩在一片迷茫的霧中,辨不清東南西北,三日三夜不散。

這時,有個叫「風後」的大臣,他突來「靈感」,創制出了一種「指南車」,這種車上立著一個小金屬人,不管車子轉向什麼方向,小金屬人伸出的一隻手總是指向「南方」。「黃帝」因為有了這輛「指南車」,軍隊就能辨明方向,終於,戰勝了蚩尤。

在古代,沒有任何現代科技的專業設備技術可談,憑的全是「靈性」的指引,這種「靈性」的能力足以應用於整個生活、軍事、農業、醫療、天氣、天文等方面,我們所知道的孔子、老子、莊子等這些有成就的人,都擁有這種特殊的「靈性」,而他們的特點都是有修行的人,可見「禪修」能帶給人很多靈性的東西。

How do you make yourself more spiritual?
.
According to legend in China, there was once a major war between the Emperor and the southern leader, Chi You. As part of his war strategy, Chi You staged an extensive range of fog to confuse and ambush the Emperor’s army. The Emperor’s army was trapped for three entire days by the fog.
.
At that moment, a minister, Feng Hou, had an inspiration. He created a type of “compass” car with a tiny metal man on it to point direction. No matter what direction the car turned, the outstretched hand of the tiny metal man’s would always point to the south. Because of the “compass”, the Emperor and his army could identify direction and finally defeated Chi You.
.
In ancient times, there was no modern technology or technical expertise. A lot was based on spiritual guidance and it was extended to all aspects of life, including military, agriculture, medicine, weather, astronomy and so forth. Many great sages such as Confucius, Laozi and Zhuangzi possessed such spirituality. What is special about them is that all of them were great cultivators. Thus, we can see how meditation can help to enhance our spirituality.

This week, we are going to talk about how mediation is a way to develop greater spirituality and overall ability.

一般,父母對孩子最初的期許,是「健康、快樂、平安」的長大。並且,對自己的孩子寄予厚望,盼他們成龍成鳳;身為父母,家庭是孩子成長的第一大關,父母如何能給孩子最好的成長環境,也是給他們一生最好的禮物呢?

記得,在2010年,英國肯特郡湯布裡奇(Tonbridge)中學正式開設了「禪修」課程,這一課程由牛津大學和劍橋大學心理學家設計。事實證明,學生們通過學習「禪修」,更容易?集中注意力、?降低焦慮、?減少「破壞性」心態,?提升學業成績。

十幾年前,我也和一些中學、大學老師,配合做過一些試驗,播放一些菩提禪修的修練音樂給孩子們聽,有很多精力不集中、容易恍神的孩子,通過一段短期的「禪修」之後,他們的記憶力真的提高了很多,專注力、思考力都明顯提升,還可以激發青少年的想像力和創造力,開發智慧,尤其更改善了孩子們青春期肥胖等健康問題。???

Generally, parents’ initial wish of their children is for them to grow up healthy, happy and safely. They also tend to place high hope for their children to succeed later in life. As parents, family background plays an important part in determining how children will turn out when they grow up. How can parents provide their children the best growing environment, which is also their best gift in life?
.
In 2010 mindfulness meditation was introduced into the classrooms of Tonbridge School, Kent, England. The course was developed in conjunction with the psychologists from Cambridge University and Oxford University. It turns out that students are more likely to focus, reduce anxiety, decrease their “destructive” mentality and improve their grades by learning meditation.
.
Ten over years ago, I worked with some middle school and college teachers to do some experiments. We played some Bodhi Meditation’s practice music for the children to listen. Through a short period of mediation, many easily distracted children were able to improve their memory, concentration, imagination, creativity and wisdom. It also helps to alleviate adolescent obesity and other health related problems.

「善良」能帶給我們什麼益處?

幾個月前,我曾看過一則新聞:2017年10月14日,中國江西省資溪,一個初三學生跳入河中,成功救起2名落水兒童,隔天,他和其他3位幫忙的人,就收到被救家屬高達萬元的酬謝金,但是,當他們知道被救的其中一個孩子家庭很困難,他們轉手就將萬元獎金,給了這個孩子家裡。
.
也許有人會疑問:「他們為什麼要這麼做啊?現在好人難當啊,萬一被誤會了怎麼辦?」
.
其實,每個人的心中都懷有「善良之心」,當看見有人陷溺於危險之中,刹那間慈悲心生起,無私地去幫助他人的行為,就是「無我」,這也是「慈悲心」的體現,你將會得到很多人的感激和敬重。
.
因此,學習做一個最善良、最慈悲的人,沒有分別、計較的去幫助他人,這份功德能量的積累,能讓我們也常得貴人幫助,獲得福錄智慧,乃至永恆的幸福快樂。
.
那麼「無私」的幫助他人的行為,為什麼可以讓我們迅速離苦得樂呢?

是什麼方法,讓健康變簡單了?

問:「在生命的加減法中,有沒有一種實實在在的方法,能夠使我們的疾病、痛苦越來越少,而健康、快樂的能量越來越多呢?」
.
答案是:「有的」。
在韓國禪堂,有一位女弟子,她患有嚴重的風濕性關節炎,發作時會疼痛到哭。一直治不好,在一個機緣下遇上菩提禪修。第一次見面,就碰上我們韓國最嚴格的老師,女弟子問:「怎麼修才可以讓我快一點不再痛苦?」

老師:「磕頭,做大禮拜,一天磕八個鐘頭。」這誰受得了啊?!可是她就接受了。

「精誠所至,金石為開。」她磕了半年,風濕性關節炎竟然真的好了。原來已經變形,不能抓東西的手,現在竟能幹活了,縫衣服都可以了。我去韓國時,還給我做韓國飯。 她告訴我:「我現在有了健康,快樂也更多了。」

所以,通過「禪修」通常會帶給人們健康。
那麼「禪修」是如何使我們的身體獲得健康,快樂的?

How can we attain good health easily?
.
Question: [In life’s formulas, is there any effective method to alleviate our illnesses, pain and sufferings while increasing our energy for good health and happiness?] .
Answer: [Yes] .
There was a female disciple from Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis. The pain was so bad that she would lose control and teared whenever the pain acted up. She tried all means to cure her illness but to no avail. On one rare occasion, she came to know about Bodhi Meditation. During her first visit to Bodhi, she met a teacher in Korea Bodhi Meditation Center who had a reputation of being strict. The female disciple asked: [What can I do to alleviate my body discomfort and pain?] .
Teacher: [Kow-tow, practice prostration eight hours each day.] This was not an easy task. However she abided by the teacher’s instruction and did as she was told.

As the Chinese saying goes: [Absolute sincerity can move even metals.] After half a year of prostration practice, she recovered completely. Previously she had problems holding things with her hands, now she can perform a lot of tasks, including sewing. When I was at Korea, she even prepared a Korean meal for me. She told me:[ I am very healthy and happy now.] .
At times, it is very hard to predict the benefits of meditation. However, generally one’s health will improve after meditation.

好人緣是有方法的,婆媳問題也有解藥!

一個女同修的真實故事,她和公婆長達17年不相往來,在禪修之後,竟然莫名和公公婆婆和好了,成為街坊鄰里間的一段美談。
.
她說:「最早,我和公婆住在一起,但是因為婆婆太霸道、太自私,不管我做什麼,婆婆都要求我必須聽從她,否則就大發雷霆,也不讓我和鄰居來往。我無法接受這樣的生活,更不想每天和婆婆為家庭瑣事吵架。婆婆還經常趕我走、不走就把我的東西往門外扔。我在走投無路之下就搬回娘家住了,這一住就是17年。」

在她還沒禪修之前,她覺得婆婆太狠毒了,自己受到的傷害太深,每當提到婆婆兩字,就覺得身體發冷、發抖,即使在大熱天也是這樣。17年過去了,她和孩子再也沒去過婆家一次,不敢提、更不敢去看她。
.
可後來參加了菩提禪修之後,她開始懂得了「慈悲、善良」,心胸變開闊了、也學會了寬容,不再記恨老人家了。她上婆婆家,去向公公婆婆懺悔道歉,婆媳間17年的積怨終於化解開了,村裡的鄰里鄉親也都感動不已。

人際關係不良的原因,很多都是由「不自信和不信任」所引起的,導致心理上產生焦慮,甚至恐慌等,各種傷害對方,或攻擊對方的行為。如果內心變得光明,自信充足,自然也就沒有恐懼了。

A true story of a female practitioner, she and her in-laws were not in contact for 17 years. After she started meditation, she miraculously mended her relationship with them and this became a much-talked-about topic among neighbors.
.
She said, “I stayed with my in-laws initially, but my mother-in-law was over bearing and too selfish. She wanted me to listen to her. If I don’t, she would act up and refuse to let me interact with my neighbors. I can’t accept this kind of life and I don’t want to quarrel with her on family trivial every day. There were times that she threw my things out of the house and wanted me to go. I couldn’t stand it anymore so I moved back to live with my mother and 17 years passed.
.
Before she started meditation, she felt that her mother-law was too vicious and hurt her deeply. Whenever someone mentioned her mother-in-law, she would have cold shivers, even on a hot day. She and her children did not visit her in-laws for 17 years.
.
However, through meditation, she began to understand “compassion and kindness”. Her heart opens up and she becomes more tolerant and forgiving. She went to her in-laws’ house to apologize and seek forgiveness. 17 years of accumulated resentment finally resolved and neighbors were happy for them too.
.
A lack of self-confidence and trust causes poor human relationship and psychological anxiety. Such fear and panic may lead to reactive harmful actions. If the inner heart is bright and fills with confidence, there will be no fear.
.
So how do we overcome that dark spot so that we can shine brightly and improve our relationship with others?
.
